Is this Herpes?

So this may be a little complicated. I currently have some lesions/open sores on my penis. I need help identifying what may be the cause.

Back Story:
I remember this happening shortly after I lost my virginity to my wife 9 years ago. The doctor I saw said it was from friction and they healed up quickly. Fast forward to August, which was the first time it happened since. In August my wife was sick and she was given Amoxicillin , and she developed itching around her labia. I was sore/slight swelling around the tip but no open lesions. She also got her period right after she started so no intercourse helped it but in the timeline, she started itching and we had sex, within 2 days her period came and by that time we stopped. She made an OBGYN appointment, they tested for a yeast infection but it came back negative. We both healed up, with no more itching and we put it out of our mind. Flash forward to October, she was sick again and was prescribed Amoxicillin again. This time it was about a week before her period, so we were still having sex, and the same itchiness as before came back for her. Just like the first time, I was slightly itchy but then I noticed what looked like a small cut on my shaft. This didn’t keep us from having sex since it was just a bit sore. Her period came, we stopped, her medication made the itching stop, and when she was done her period, the sex resumed. This is when my penis became a battlefield. I had one sore spot that now has turned into several spots. We went to our GP and he said it looks like it may be HSV but it was weird that it synced up with my wife’s antibiotic reaction. He prescribed Valtrex and we both have an appointment for blood work on Thursday. Of course in the meantime, these sores are painful to the touch and when I get an erection. I have been applying Neosporin to it every morning and night.

We both got a full check last November and we were both negative. We have had no other sexual partners either.

Any suggestions as to what it may be?

It’s hard to tell from your lesions. I know you mentioned you had blood work done but have they swabbed the lesions and done a culture? If it is herpes and you both are eachothers only sexual partner then, my thought would be that your wife had oral herpes (hsv1) and you got genital hsv1 from her performing oral sex. I have genital hsv1 so thats why its a thought, but many people dont think it’s possible to get genital herpes without having bad more than one partner. It could easily not be herpes, I’m not sure what it would be but its rather strange that its in sync with her antibiotics.

Never had it swabbed but blood work will be done tomorrow. She had been tested before but the results were confusing as her OB/GYN said negative and positive on the same lab day. I have only had her as a sexual partner, but she’s had others.

But the whole antibiotic coincidence just has me confused, as well as my doctor.

What was it?
