Hi, I have been experiencing pain in my upper abdomen for the past few months. The doctors thought it was Appendicitis at first, because the pain was in the lower abdomen at first, and took me off food, scanned my abdomen, did everything they were supposed to do for Appendicitis, but they found nothing out of the ordinary.
Fast forward to another month or so. The pain moved upwards, to my upper abdomen, and the doctors couldn't help me at all. I stopped going for checkups, and one day my poop was just white watery mucous. No poop at all. 2nd time it happened, it was yellow watery mucous. Very disgusting, but I have to describe it properly. Then a few weeks ago, my poop was just diarrhoea with undigested vegetables floating in it. It stunk a lot, but I'm not sure about the degree of stinkiness hahaha. I've tried to search for help online, and some people told me that it might be IBS, or coeliac disease, or Crohn's. How can I check? Thanks in advance...
ps i don't have pain radiating towards my back. i feel like puking sometimes though
I also have problems with IBS like symptoms. There isn't a easy answer unfortunately but if u have had some tests done and u are sure there is nothing more doctors can do then u can try yourself to get it under control. It may be awhile before you get the condition under control but if you are like me u will try anything. There is lots you can do. Firstly u need to monitor what u are eating, how it effects u and how your bowels are after. Also there is lots of herbal remedies you can take, unlike medication u get from the doctor, the herbal remedies take longer to get into your system but it get to the root of the problem. U would have to research herbal products to work out what is best for u, u may have a good herbalist in your town which could help u. I take Acidophilus plus, it is non dairy good bacteria. Also there is lots of other things u can try such as reflexology, that's what I'm trying at moment. Homeopathy remedies are the way foward. I have been looking into the FOR MAP diet which is interesting. Stress also effects it so u need to relax and maybe try some relaxation techniques. Good luck.
Thank you for sharing! I don't think I am affected by stress, because it hurts even when I'm playing games I love. However, I'm trying to take good bacteria as well, and I hate how reliant I am on them. My doctor has NEVER told me about IBS, and I had to go online to search it out for myself. Do people with IBS have to live with this forever? Could I be allergic to something as common as grain/wheat as I eat them everyday? I guess I'll have to find that out for myself...
It sounds like ibs to me. I've had similar symptoms to you and I have symtoms worse than you.
Is the pain there all the time?
Is it a stabbing pain or a constant pain?
The best thing to do is keep a food diary stop eating anything that seems to make it worse. Try over the counter medicines like buscopan and colfac. The only way to be truly sure about colitis or crohns is to have an endoscopy and colonoscopy. They sound worse than they are. But you do need to get a doctor involved, a lot of people don't realise how bad ibs can be. I've had 37 sick days of this year and I've been into hospital twice xx
I know when u say u are not stressed but sometimes it's as simple as having a really busy live or maybe worried about your bowel movement after eating a meal. Your stomach and bowels are very sensitive. U need to understand that the digestive system is the engine of the body. If you are losing weight and things are getting worst and u feel u can't manage it yourself then she should go back to doctor. But, food plan and self help can be as good. Like I said earlier doctors and medication never gets to the root of the problem, just treat the symptons. When u said u r trying good bacteria, please try dairy free. Also remember herbal remedies, and reflexology, meditation and relax techniques help. Have a look at FOR MAP.
Hi, thanks for the reply!
Your condition sounds far worse than mine. I have always had pain, but not enough to go on sick days. I grit my teeth and get through the days, and honestly I'm feeling tired of the pain. I have not done an endoscopy and colonoscopy, but I might soon. My doctor has not told me about Colitis or Crohn's. Thanks for the suggestions again!
Thanks, I'm not losing a lot of weight at once. The last time I lost weight was probably after the hospital stay when I was checked for appendicitis. They put me off food, and the pain was pretty unbearable then. I'm not very pleased with treating the symptoms, since all they did was give me painkillers, and I don't want to live on painkillers. Thanks again!
Yes that's right that's what they do just treat the symptons! So if u feel like me it's the easy way out and its not good enough to never get to the root of the problem. It's just wallpapering over the cracks. So it's about self help. Obviously, u need to make sure the doctor is sure there is nothing they can do, and there is nothing more serious. Then it is all about research and finding whats right for u. I don't know if I mentioned it earlier but I have just started relaxology. I didn't give the lady who did it any information, but as soon as looked at my feet she said your digestive system is in turmoil. Also she said colon was blocked. After, 1st treatment I has in more pain than usual and my first urine after was black in colour! I rang lady and she said it was toxics leaving my body and pain sometimes does get worst before it gets better. I have second course last week and feel like it's getting better. Pain is not as bad. It's a on going battle.
Relaxing really is a good thing to work on. I've been better since I started yoga. But recently I've been too ill to go because of stress from my personal life mainly an ex boyfriend. But like has already been said just being busy and rushing is as bad as stress. I work in retail which can be pretty hectic. But I make it my personal rule to never rush for anyone but myself.
But you do need tests just to rule out other nasties. I've had both an endoscopy and colonoscopy and they are nothing to worrie about. The worst thing is the drink they make you drink before hand to empty your system.
You just need to be open minded and try everything, keep doing what works, write down what dosent and don't do it again lol.
It's been just over a year since my diagnosis and nearly 2 n a half years of symptoms and pains, and now in being refered again because it's not getting any better and I'm struggling to function. You just gotta work it out with your own body xxx
Thank you very much! I hope you get better, and it's great that you know what's bothering you.
Wow! I think I should try it too! Thanks a lot, I'm also trying FOD MAP out.
Get well soon!
