Is this just anxiety or something more?

Looking for if people have had a similar experience at all to me. Little background on my past summer, I had Lyme disease and it presented with a number of symptoms, none of them typical. Started of with mild headaches, eventually had some tingling in my left jaw and left forearm down to fingers. Also had episodes of feeling not quite vertigo but like walking required more concentration than usual. Took 10 weeks to get diagnosed, but in meantime I saw a neurologist who did MRI and tests and couldn't determine answer.

Fast forward 6 month to today. Tingling is still present, sometimes feels like pins and needles sometimes more like paresthesias. Also recently the increased concentration to walk has returned and I just today had another brief (~5 second) episode of disorientation, where I could think but seemed like my senses weren't behaving quite properly. Anxiety has definitely been prominent these entire six months.

So I guess my question is does anxiety cause these symptoms? They seem very neurologic, am I driving myself crazy? Is there something else neurologic going on possibly, even after seeing neurologist? Might it still be Lyme?

Anxiety can cause a lot of symptoms but I'm not sure. Maybe go back to your doctor and see what he or she says?

Hi chuck, how was the Lyme disease treated?

I have Lyme disease since a few years and your symptoms sound very familiar to me. If Lyme disease is not treated properly or in time, neurologic symptoms can continue to show up. Neurologists can't see the neurologic effects of Lyme unless they are very severe. Neuroborreliosis (as the neurological symptoms of Lyme are called) doesn't show up on an MRI or through an EMG. You could try to get a lumbar puncture but personally, considering the risks, I would try to avoid that to all cost, unless the complaints are so severe that there is no other choice left.

The only other way to find out if you still have Lyme is to get a blood test, preferably the LTT test since the ELISA or Western Blot test which is done through your GP isn't very reliable.

Best look for a Lyme Literate Doctor (LLD) who knows what he/she is talking about, since the average doctor really hasn't got a clue. This doctor can order the right test for you and offer you the right treatment.

If you have confirmed Lyme Disease it can be the devil to clear. I would advice you again talk to the Doctor and if possible set trats throughout your land if that is where you pick up this problem
