im only 20. Ive been experiencing burning.

Hi c084 it could be but for me its not really that obvious and so if you are experiencing burning or any of the symptoms of LS which tend to be..

‘paper like’ cuts on and around the vagina
blisters
sores
ulcers
painful sex
red rashes
itching

then you need to go get a proper diagnosis. Try to find a Vulva clinic as they tend to have more experience with LS and can even give you a visual diagnosis in some cases.

my advice to you would be to make an appointment with your GP. Ask for a referral to see a dermatologist at a vulvar clinic. It really should be an expert who gives you a diagnosis. Hope that helps.

The usual tell-tale symptom of LS is there are white plaques that form on the top layer of the skin. This does not appear to be what you have - although individual cases vary considerably. It could be you have a Dermatological reaction to something the skin is in regular contact with - this could be anything from something you regularly apply to the area, all the way through to a reaction to the washing powder you use for your clothing. If you can identify all the items that contact the skin of your vulva region, try removing them from use, one by one, the essential ones to try first are thing like soap, shower gels and washes. Try switching to as many Dermatological friendly products as possible. It could simply be the skin in that area is becoming, or remaining damp too often - and that can be addressed by ensuring it is completely dry, as often as you can. So, pat dry carefully with a towel, and ensure it is not wet to the touch.
As already suggested, the Specialists a Vulvar Clinic are the best ones to help you with this.
