I have noticed this mole getting bumpier over the past few months. Could anybody who has been diagnosed with melanoma give their opinion? I understand that only a dermatologist can make a proper diagnosis, but I would appreciate any feedback.
ps: I am a 24 year old Caucasian female.
Hi there, I am just recovering from removal of an in situ acral lentiginous melanoma on the ball of my foot 3.5 weeks ago, it looked like a dark smudge, not like a mole at all, so I wasn't worried about it, but it was spotted by a dermatologist when I went for something else. Fortunately caught in time. So mine didn't look like a mole like yours, but this leaflet may help you? http://www.cancer.gov/publications/patient-education/skin.pdf   It's got some pictures in it. Best thing is to get it seen to asap just in case it needs removing, the earlier it's caught the better as you probably know anyway. Good luck! Maja
Hi, Having had a melanoma I can tell you that it looks alot like it could be something that needs to be looked at by a dermatologist. Any mole with rough edges, several shades of brown/tan/black (any combination), and any other change need to be taken care of.
If you get it removed and pathology shows it early enough, then removal is often all that is needed.
I have tons of moles on my body and have been getting checked since I was 17 yearly, and now I am 52. Had the mole on my back for many many years and two years ago it started to change and I had it removed. Luckily it was a Level 1 and I am now cured.
Get it checked professionally soon.
Cheers
Thank you so much for your reply! I already see a dermatologist for acne, so I'll get a sooner appointment tomorrow. Thank you!
