Hello I’ve diagnosed with anxiety so for about 5 years now I’ve had many ekgs and other types of test done when I’ve gone to the doctor for symptoms ranging from shortness of breath fast heart rate. All text have come back normal . Last time. I went to my doctors office my bp was 143/98 and my pulse was 124 the doctor said my heart sounded fine and said I was just anxious. My question is can temporary anxiety really cause such high readings ?
I checked my blood pressure and pulse and everything came out high! It was in the 150’s over a number I’m not sure what. Anxiety can do a lot of things to us. I was really scared I have high blood pressure so I went to a high station thing to get it checked. In my head I kept overthinking about everything! My heart was beating fast and I was trying to calm my breathing. Don’t worry, it’s most likely just you being anxious. Even your doc said so
Yes !! It can no need to worry I live with anxiety every single day and to this day I just try to relax my mind and drink tea and when I feel my chest tightening I lay down .. do some mediatate or yoga it works .. hope u feel better
Hi,
It is normal for anybody with or without any health problems to have higher than normal blood pressure, it's the sitting and waiting around for your turn with the doctor, there are many factors for this, ranging from being made to wait a bit longer and we get a bit upset or agitated because it's making us, the patients, run late for other appointments and we huff, puff and sigh, room temperature and simply just being at a doctors appointment can increase your blood pressure. If you can feel your heart racing, I bet if you took you pulse the correct way you would find your heart is beating within normal range, there are different methods of taking your pulse, it's all to do with mathematics really, you'll see some doctors only hold their finger on your pulse for 15 seconds, others will hold their finger on your pulse for 30 seconds, on the rare occasions the old school doctors will hold their finger on your pulse for the full minute.
In answer to your question yes any kind of stress, anxiety can alter blood pressure, heart rate and breathing.
