Is this normal?

HI
Its now 12 weeks since my right hip replacement . Im still using 1 crutch when outside as i limp quite a bit and the consultant advised using it upto my december appointment . This last week ive had a deep throbbing in my hip not really painful but pretty constant and today ive had stabbing pains in the front of my hip and my leg feels heavy again and sore when lifting it . Can anyone give any advice to me please as to is this just part of the healing process im not in pain as such its just uncomfortable and to be honest disheartening because it feels as if im going backwards . Thanks Lynne

I’d call the surgeon now. And maybe get a second opinion as well - - sounds like something is wrong.

i am over 4 months since my anterior hip replacement. my upper thigh is burning, feel needles and pins and am very uncomfortable. i am limping badly and know i have a leg length discrepancy. i am not using a cane for many months now. my surgeon does not want to see this discrepancy. he dies not want to admit it. am seeing him this week and would like to hear what he will say. gets very nasty when i mention one leg is longer than the other. my limp is getting worse every day and other side is starting to hurt. i went for second opinion and he too said one leg is longer. don’t know what anyone is going to do? will keep you posted

Oh no im sorry you really are in a terrible situation i hope that you get help , it must get you really down especially when your surgeon seems to not want to acknowledge whats going on with you. Please keep me posted Lynnex

Thanks i think maybe your right its just so frustrating because i feel as if ive swapped one type of pain for another and im due to have my other hip replaced early next year! Lynnex

I was like this after my left hip was replaced in January. My right hip was the culprit and thus it had to be replaced. The length discrepancy was causing some of the pain as well. My surgeon added an extension so my legs would be even. I am praying all goes well for you. I am not 7 weeks since the last surgery and still slight limp. I am feeling better.
