The bumps on your labia are called vestibular papillomatosis. Vestibular papillomatosis is a common and benign condition. The growths generally remain unchanged with time and are something that you are born with. They mostly develop on the labia minora and in the vaginal opening. There is a noticeable amount of smegma buildup on either side of your labia and around your clitoris. When showering, it is important that you wash between the folds of your labia and that you retract your clitoral hood to clean underneath it. If enough smegma accumulates, it may produce an unpleasant odor, cause itchiness, and can even lead to clitoral adhesions. Although vestibular papillomatosis isn’t the cause of having sex or poor hygiene, keeping the vaginal area clean can prevent it from getting worse.
