Hi guys just to add insult into injury, I now have a raised rash on the top of my leg and the side not sure if I have an infection, due to bank holiday haven't been able to see a doctor, rang 111 and they said someone would ring me, and they did 6 1/2 hrs later and said I could go to the hospital 1 1/2hrs away, I am away at my caravan going home for physio tomorrow so hopefully they can sort it out. AGONY ITCHY, What's next. Oh yes Mega sleepless nights, oh well here we go again.
Did you use a different lotion, bar soap, even a different shampoo?
We can even develop an allergic reaction to products we have used for a long time.
Have you used Neosporin? I think they must have altered the formula because after many years of using it I now get a rash from it. Bactyricin causes the same problem for me. I mentioned this to our youngest son, and HE said he got a rash from it recently, too. (As a kid he had it on him A LOT to aid road rash from his bike and rollerblades. No problem THEN, but now a problem.
Just some things to consider!
Also, check your temperature to see if it is elevated. Elevated temperature CAN be an infection.
Have you tried putting antihistamine cream on it? That should help with the itching. If it doesn't cause problems with other meds you're taking (check this out online) then Piriton or something like that might help. This might be a simple allergy or even a bite or something like that. Hopefully it's nothing to do with the knee. But I know what you mean - infection is the thing everyone is terrified of, so it's worth getting it checked. I'd have thought your GP could check it rather than you need to go to the hospital????
I had a rash after being immobile for a while, tiny dotty rash and extremely itchy, I was given E45 itch cream, you can buy it OTC or prescription, is leg swollen or just itchy rash, I'm presuming you haven't been swimming.
