Itchy Spot on Back for nearly 4 months

Hi,

For about 3 or 4 months now I have had a spot on my back.  It itches a lot and constantly gets infected.  Probably every 2 weeks or so it will get infected then eventually it will weep, scab over and get infected again.  I have been to the doctors who perscribed me antibiotics for it then to turn round and say its not infected so its ok only for it to get infected again 2 days later.  Surely if its always itchy and hasn't cleared up after this long there must be another reason for it?

if i had to guess you need med for the itchyness, maybe when its itchy you scratch it alot and it leads to it scabbing over and getting infected, then when it clears up its still itchy and u scratch it until it scabs again?, could be some type of allgery causing it to be itchy, could be shingles?, maybe try taking some allgery med and see if itchyness goes away.

or if the itchyness is caused by the actual sore not healing then... maybe when i think of sores and stuff not healing i think of diabeaties so maybe have doctor do some blood work

Daniel, make an appointment with a dermatologist immediately.  Do not wait.  You have a sore that does not heal and is most likely skin cancer.  Probably basal cell which is very treatable.  Time is of the essence.  Good luck.

Thank you. I did think skin cancer but obviously didn't want to jump to conclusions. My grandad does have skin cancer so it does run in the family.

I have had blood tests run for vitamin d and zinc recently but I didn't know if anything would be picked up if they want looking for it.

There is no punishment for confirming your suspicians... there are consequences for not checking out symptoms with your doctor.  Make your appointment today.

The way to determine skin cancer is a pathology test.
