Its been 3 weeks since my last 100mgX2 doxcycline

I was diagnosed w/Lyme in March. It's been 3 weeks now since my last antibiotic, and all my symptoms are back, and this time they are more neurological. My whole upper body shakes while both arms get heavy, and all most seem numb.W/ headaches galore! This disease unfortunately is becoming a full time job. I have since lost my job due to this disease. I was told this is a new diagnose, but I believe I've had a lot longer than the test says.Has anyone else experienced the numbness ,or sharp pains throughout...

Hi Maggie, sorry to hear you're having a bad time. This very much rings a bell with me. My symptoms came back very, very strongly about two weeks after stopping the month's doxycycline I was given by my GP when I was first treated in October 2013. And yes, headaches/freezing, numb limbs are very common, and I still have them almost three years after acute Lyme diagnosis. My advice would be to forget the doxycycline. A staggered combination of amoxicyllin, clarithromycin and tinidazole seems to be the current thinking, but quite honestly the only antibc that has done anything for me is fluconazole. You could ask your GP to prescribe - they may well do if they're open-minded. Also, I'd recommend laying off the alcohol, dairy and sugar completely.

Dear Maggie,

Take heart. Believe things will get better one day and they will.

I am so sorry about your job' I hope you have a good husband/partner who will support you because yes fighting this is a full time job.

I too have had the numbness and headaches which I have not had since my migraines ceased years ago. They are now infrequent.

It is most likely to have been going on for a long time. The body tries to cope for as long as it can without help but this  is a dragon of an illness..

I have also had the numbness and  sharp pains

My legs give way not that I can walk without sticks anyway.

Do you have almost unbearable pain in back or neck or shoulders and then after a few hours it's moved somewhere else?

I know I have this thing or something very like it. butI have not been diagnosed except with exzema which I most certainly do not have.

Do everything you can to support your immune system.

Eat a lemon, rind as well. Take salt if you feel the need for it.

eat only fresh green and orange vegetables with meat. No strach or sugar.

Have proper yoghurt with all the right probiotics in them. Drink lots of water add sliced fresh lemon to it (organic lemons).

Talk to people who will listen.

How does the test show how long you have had it?

Take at least 3 grammes of vit C every day more if you want.

Both Linus Pauling and Adele davies wrote of the importance of Vit C.

Read the help on websites . People do get better.

You will get better but you have to work  so hard to get there.

Remembre no sugar or anything that turns to sugar in the body.

Oranges are good, green herbs, mint, thyme,  and oregano. If you have no garden you can grow them in a pot.

I have had terrible shoulder pain so much so that I thought i'd put it out . Unbearable, unmoveable. Got to A and E an hour away, had x rays- agony- waited three hrs to be told it wasn't out ,tjust arthritis, go home take a pain killer!

Two days later pain had eased then returned in full force and becomes misery towards evening. I am not doing anything. I have arthritis in other joints- nothing like this shoulder pain. Yesterday it moved to the neck and is now starting in other shoulder. A month ago it was knife like under the ribs. Gone now

Explanation? Who knows )but your pains sound similar.

I think it's part of the pattern.

When did you start feeling  much more tired than usual. Try to think back.

But remember you are going to get well even if it takes time.

Thinking of you and wishing you well..

Thank you for your input. I am going back to the doc tomorrow. I will mention the fluconazale. I am so tired of being miserable, and I am not use to being taken care of. I feel everyone around me is carrying the financial burden for which is not rite but I'm hoping I will soon feel better again Thank you for the info.
