It's Been A While

Morning fellow hippes and new hippies to be. It's been a little while since I posted, went back to work and getting on with living life now that I'm into month 5 of recovery. Things are going awesome, went back to work, loving the new hip, no more pain, no more limping around like Quasi Modo, Stay positive and motivated, things do get better. It's a beautiful summer day and my garden finally looks good again. Not so last year when I could not even plant a flower the pain from the hip was so bad. Wanted to share it with you all and hope everyone is doing well with their recoveries.

Please keep posting, it's very inspiring to us pre ops ๐Ÿ˜€

Hi Renee, sorry it's been a while since my last post , back working full time in the Operating Room again and no problems at all. My recovery has been amazing and I really hope everyone here is ok to. For all still tackling those recovery challenges hang in there with a lot of patience, motivation and remaining positive it will come. I am so happy to have gotten back the pain free life I've been missing for those 5 long miserable years. I've been swimming, biking, hiking, and yes I can finally do the stairs like normal. You all can do it to I just know it. Will post again soon

Thanks for the compliment. I love gardening and that was one goal I set for myself. I was determined to get down there and plant and weed again haha. I think it looks pretty good compared to last year when I would do anything but suffer with horrible in. Well no more. That's my wish for everyone here, a return to a happy pain free life again.

Thank you Susan, good to know there's light at the end of the tunnel.  Very glad to hear you're doing so well xx

Great to read your post especially about the garden. I think that is what I have missed most this year!

Have just built a new house and will be landscaping next year. Good to know I will be able to dig in!!

Hi Carol, congratulations to your daughter on her win, I used to ride in my younger years also and sure do miss that. Eight weeks already it does go by fast. Glad to read your recovering well abetting co to doing the things we love and missed. Hope to see pictures of the new house and that lovely garden your going to plant next year. I'm,sure we will all drop in from time to time to see how we all are. I,know made some good friends here on the forum. It was my lifeboat during my early recovery weeks.

I don't know why it's upside down but this is the bungalow. I think the reason I am doing quite well is because when I said we built the bungalow it was old bricklayer friend who is 67. My husband 65 and me 60. I laid bricks, mixed concrete, up and down scaffolding, and there is so many skirting boards to paint. I lived on cocodamol but it strengthened my muscles which helped. I used to grunt all the time getting up and down.

I thought I would hate my enforced rest but it was actually lovely to do nothing and not feel guilty!!  By chance I came out on Sunday and Wimbledon started the next day. It's been years since I've sat and followed the matches. It really helped those horrid first two weeks. I thought I would miss driving but I didnt. I did go back driving quite early I could not stand my husbands driving any longer!!!!!!! Ha ha

I miss the riding too. My daughter and I used to hack out regularly together. Good chatting time.

here I am waffling on.  Keep in touch

best wishes. Carol ๐Ÿ˜„Xx

Hi Carol .... what can I say ??? WOW .... is an understatement ... how long did it take you ? gives me goosebumps that you built this your self -

warm hug and so happy to hear that you are doing so well

Hi reene

how are you doing??

it took just over a year, started April 2014  lived in a caravan it was really cold over the winter months. Unfortunately my father died in April the same year and I had to sort out probate which was a bit stressful to say the least. I am still tying up loose ends, but it made it more difficult to source materials and make all the hundreds of choices that had to be made for the bungalow

never mind there now and I have a wonderful new hip.

Take care of yourself

lots of love Carol๐Ÿ˜„ Xx

Your place looks gorgeous even upside down haha. You know I actually enjoyed my forced rest to, not the best way to get a 3 month vacation but it was good to be off for more than just a few days at a time.

Hi Susan,Well done you!! I am just over 6 months, but not a happy bunny as I still have pain in the buttock! I am a full time carer of my dear hubby, who also has oa of lumber spine, hips and knee's, also is severely sighted, and deaf.when we are out together, hubby drags his feet and this puts pressure on the way I am walking! I am so so scared that I will have to have another op as my knee's are not good. But For the time being I have reflexology every other week and also a jacuzzi every other week! So sorry to moan.its not easy as I suffer from anxiety.regards Amanda

susan where abouts in norfolk are you

Marilyn, I'm not in the UK, I'm from the U.S. New Jersey to be exact. I found this forum back in March when I had my replacement and was searching for a support group who understands the challenges of hip replacement recovery. Everyone was so warm, welcoming and supportive and didn't seem to care where I was from. Made some good friends here and this forum was my lifeboat as I recovered. Being not the type to forget acts of kindness towards me I still come to see how everyone is doing and hopefully offer some encouragement to those still dealing with challenges. It a good place here.

Hi Amanda, I'm sorry your still struggling, you sure have a,lot to deal with, try to keep the spirits up. Some just take a bit more time to heal and also caring for hubby can be exhausting while your trying to recover yourself. Prayers for you both that things will improve.

Hi Susan,

im 10weeks into my hit replacement and struggling with stars crouching. I can get my shoes on and trousers but still getting my socks on is a struggle. Please tell me this does get better. I'm so so sick now just want to get back to a normal life and do things for myself. I'm trying hard and if I can help it I will do things myself and only ask if I just can not do it but prefer  not to. Nice garden and nice to see that we will all get there. Take care.

Heather I'm sure you've heard this that everyone heals differently but it does get better. I'm at 21weeks now and it really took me a good 12 to be able to really crouch and bend. You'll get there I just know it.

Thanks hope your doing well. I know I will get there. I just want everything yesterday x
