It's gone!

Hi guys, after months of attacks of biliary colic & pancreatitis which had me hospitalised, it's finally been removed!!! Attended A&E early hours of yesterday morning for what I thought would be a shot of morphine & sent packing, all my bloods came back deranged so they kept me in again, 6 hours later I was laying on the table having a lap chole!! Was extremely worried at first because I was told due to inflammation of my gallbladder it would be highly likely an open chole would be performed but I was very lucky!! So here I am still in hospital as it was emergency surgery & they wanted to keep an eye on me, I'm a little sore but I've had no wind pain that I was expecting!! Just wanted to share with you and I'll keep you updated with my progress xxx

Congratulations!~~ take it easy for a few days then if you can tolerate it, take gentle walks so you heal properly! Best of Health to you! I bet you are going to have so much more energy and vitality in the coming weeks <3 !

Thanks beepbop88, I really hope your right about the energy & vitality! I feel like I've been physically & mentally drained for best part of this year, I know a lot of have suffered/suffering for a lot longer than I was, especially those who can't afford there medical bills & insurance premiums, but I can't wait to get my life back, I turned 40 last month now it's time to live it!!! We slate the NHS but we wouldn't be without it, & I work for them!!! X

So pleased. smile

just remember to give your abdomen time to heal.

But the relief is overwhelming you will start to feel so much better ..

It's nice to read stories like this. I hope now you start to feel better.

I only wish in a way they would say my horrendous problems were gb.

I'm still convinced my gb isn't working properly because of these painful attacks I frequently get.

I'm so low with this and the fact the doctors don't know what it is.

I'm off to yet another Gastro tomorrow. I don't know whether he will be any better than the rest. I have to keep going as I know I can't live with how I feel right now forever.

Great News Claireyd!smile

I am so glad that you have had that awful thing removed at last!

And glad to hear that you are 'out the other side'

I am having mine out in 3weeks...it's scary to think about but

I have got to feel better afterwards surely!eek...well I can't feel any

worse!

All sorted in time for Christmas!!.... might even get to eat some

christmas pud this year?!wink

Hi Kim! I have lived with food allergies and intollerances since I went to college in London, 30 years ago.  I got a bad case of food poisoning from steak and kidney pie and had the runs for weeks until I went to France and ate some live yogurt.  Then over the next year I started to develop food allergies.  Various specialties don't follow each others findings sometimes.  My Gastroenterologist did not know that food allergies can cause gall bladder spasms as painful and obstructing as a stone.  You might want to keep a food diary and note your reactions to foods over a week, then eliminate the 7 most inflamatory foods plus any you notice that cause you a problem.  I have not been able to eat beef, turkey, shrimp or crab for the last 30 years with out a dramatic and in some cases anaphylactic reaction.  The 7 common inflaming foods are: dairy, eggs, corn, wheat, soy, sugar and peanuts.  Even though its a trick to get used to it if these hidden sickening foods are bothering you, you will feel SO MUCH Better when you get them out of your diet!!! Plus, its a cheap approach that doesn't require specialized blood tests and antibody panels.  Best of wellness to you!!!!

Thanks very much for that information. Any information is a great help to me right now.

I just had a bad night. Up until this week it didn't wake me through the night. But past three days it's woken me up. With wind and associated wind pains. It's not excruiating stabbing pains, more of a belly ache. Even passing wind doesn't really help. The other reason I'm doubting this us IBS is because after I had been to the toilet this morning instead of relief I'm on the bed typing to you now with belly ache again. No relief.

I'm seeing this Gastro professor later today. I'm going armed with a lot of information and questions to ask, let's see what he comes up with. I honestly feel I'm getting weaker and weaker.

Also I'm quite constipated today, as always, but more so today. I'm passing small poo like sultanas. Sorry to be so graphic !!! It's rarely a normal formed poo these days.

So happy for you, hopefully life now begins for you. :-)

Hi Claireyd

It's a few days since your surgery, was just wondering if you were feeling any better?!smile

Hi sunshinemb, yes it's been a few days now & to be honest I don't see how some people have been able to return to work a few days after, I'm still very tender and swollen, I was wearing a size 14 jeans when I got taken in on Monday and couldn't do up a size 18 to come home in, been living in pj's since! I only had about 1 day where I had bad back pain from trapped gas they use to blow you up but that was eased with paracetamol & tramadol, I've had my dressings changed today and all seems ok apart from my belly button one, my consultant told me I was very nearly swapped to an open op as my gallbladder was very inflamed and on the verge of rupturing, they had great difficulty getting it out of the hole so they made my belly button wound a lot bigger, I have stitches in it which need removing in a weeks time where as the other 3 incisions only have dissolvable stitches. I've been extremely tired too. I also had trouble peeing after surgery and went into retention & had a catheter inserted, but that soon resolved. I won't lie, it is sore but that soreness for a few more days is certainly going to out way the pain we experience!!! Good luck with your op in a few weeks and if there's anymore I can help with then please ask, perhaps it would be a good idea to take a baggy dress with you to come home in to allow for any swelling, mine was emergency surgery so never give it a second thought. Xxx

Thank you xx

Thank you Kim, how did you get on with the gastro consultant? Keep us informed xx

Thank you Janet xx

Ooooh Claire

If the Surgeon is telling you that they had a tough time then no wonder you are feeling very uncomfortable. They normally play things down!

It looks as though you were very lucky that they caught when they did.

It puzzles me how you are expected to recover in a matter of days rather than weeks.

It is a major operation whether it's keyhole or open!

Your body has been through one really bad ordeal with it being emergency surgery, so you were oviously really poorly before they even  did the operation!

Well I can't see them getting my gallbladder with 26mm stone thro keyhole' I think it will need to be a letterbox opening!!eek

I'll just come home in my biggest nightie with biggest long coat over topredface!!!

I think you have been really brave having gone through all that trauma and I hope you feel better very soon, in the meantime take it easy and rest upsmile!

Hello. Right. This guy was very good. First thing he said to me when I told him my symptoms and he read my results and scans was.... Please get rid of that signpost in your head that says it's cancer. It is not cancer. He called my condition functional abdo pain !! Coupled with this cancer anxiety I have with my stomach. He says I have to find a way to lower my anxiety and stress levels otherwise it won't go. He's sending me to a hypnotherapist. I'm not a bi believer but if she can knock me out and get rid of anxiety yay !!  He wants to take a look at my gb scan report cuz figures I gave him were a bit weird !! He said I may have some biliary spasms but didn't think my gb was rotten. He says I need to take a low dose amytrypltiline for a month see if eases spasm pain. I also have to tackle constipation by eating probiotic yog with linseed a three times a day. He said give this a while then come back and see me. But he said it's def nothing serious as I've had so many tests that would have already shown up cancer by now.
