It's happening today! Aghhhh

Am sat in hospital bed right now still terrified and yet reasonably calm considering. Anesthetist has been in, lovely and chatty. Said he's going to give me a GA and epidural. The surgeon came in, drew on hip and got me to sign form and then left. Was expecting him to say, 'Any last questions?' or talk to me a bit about what will happen. I hope he comes back but don't think he will. Said I won't be done until the afternoon which is so annoying but it's because I'm the youngest.

I was hoping of course I'll be in early and get him at his freshest and most alert. I'm also starving and thirsty

Thanks so, so much for all the support you've been so far.

Good luck Amy. It'll soon be over. Let us know how you get on.

All the best for today.  Let us know how you get on if you feel up to it xxx

Good luck

Amy

You'll soon be a new Hippie! Best of luck - he's obviously left you until later as you are younger so it will be a piece of cake! 🍰  Sorry didnt mean to make you hungrier.

Take care and try to keep busy until the op. Have you got books or a tablet to keep you occupied?

Wont be long before you are posting to say how you got on 😀

Amy, I know just how you feel and the nerves are something else (I was last on the list too) can you watch some TV? Or a film? Anything to take your mind off things.

It will come and go so quickly, and you will soon have a cup of tea and a sandwich and wonder why you worried so much.

We are all thinking of you on here and looking forward to your next post, after your operation when it is all over and you are well and truly on the road to recovery.

Huge hugs, they will be so careful and gentle with you. The theatre staff are so lovely, so just relax now, keep breathing slowly and soon this will be all over and you will be planning to head home all fixed!

Good luck Amy

lucky you soon be on the road to recovery. Mine is week from tomorrow Feb 3 and counting down.

Keep us posted on recovery ok

Karen

Amy good luck hun, when its all over and believe me this is the worst bit you will feel a new person once its all over.  The time will pass keep chatting on here i am sure your questions can get answered.

good luck hun,

Good luck Amy,

When it's all over it will be a relief.

When you come around from the operation you will feel nothing if you've had a spinal.

And after the first 2-3 nights of uncomfortableness, things get better.

The excitement and pride of having a new hip and new active life is still with me and today I am 12 weeks post op RTHR.

Thinking of you, stay calm and trust the surgeon, they don't usually have good bedside manners but are very skilled at their work. Veronica

Hello Amy

good luck don't worry. I was last both times for both hips and was fine. They like to have the easiest last

x

Good Luck Amy!!

Had mine last Thursday. I was the last one in which meant that the doctors had time to warm up and ease their nerves.

Don't let the physio bully you into standing this aftenoon. I had a GA and spinal and was not ready to stand until the next day. And now I am home and pain free and walking 1/2 a mile.

You can do it :-)

You can walk half a mile already? Amazing. With crutches?

I've got my phone, tablet, mags so I'm ok. They even gave me tea. I'm just so hungry I could eat my own hand. Surgeon never came back

My room is lovely and bathroom like a 4* hotel. So glad I'm in a private hospital (NHS are paying) rather than a huge main hospital.,

Good luck Amy look forward to your next posting telling us how you got on 🙂🙂🙂🙂xx

Good luck Amy! Just enjoy it and let them look after you. Sounds like your in a nice place. Don't worry about the consultant rushing off, he'll be focusing on getting into theatre to make a start. Won't be long until you've got rid of the nasty old pain and replaced it with 'good' healing type pain.

Hi Amy

I had my left hip done10 days ago and went through exactly the

same procedure as you have so far. In fact I still have the arrow

on my left leg. Good luck with the operation. I didn't fell a thing

once the epidural had taken hold. For me the amazing effect of

an epidural gives me the biggest memory.

All the best

David

Yes, it is incredible!! Yes, two crutches. It does make you tired and the wrists hurt more than the leg, but one step at a time. And then plenty of ice afterwards.

Thinking of you as it is very fresh in my mind :-)

Good luck! When I had to wait for mine I just lay down and tried to  sleep!

Good luck there Amy.

First in is not necessarily best - both my op's were 'first in', and both failed to achieve the required result

Best regards
