I've been doing well, exercising (regular squats, single leg squats and lunges with 15, 20, 25 pound dumbbells) every other day for 4 months... I tried to go alittle deeper with the lunges and felt a twinge...now I have had discomfort on the outside of the hip... I'm hoping I just over did it...
I am 7 months out and overdid it myself last Sunday. Severe pain for a few days and then it started to recede. Saw my chiropractor on Thursday and he concurred that I had seriously pulled a thigh muscle. Recommended rest, icing, and elevation. Of course, the next day was bowling league and last minute shopping, so I reaggravated it and am now back to square one. But rest, icing, and elevation today has seemed to help. Good luck to you!
Just a question. Did your doctor clear you for lifting weights? I could not do any weight bearing exercises for months. Had posterior approach on both hips. It generally takes a year to get muscles and tendons back in shape. Of course depending on many health , age and other factors.
i hope you just pushed to much. Rest for a few days . If you are in a lot of pain please see your doctor.
Sounds like a typical case of overdoing it to me - lifting heavy weights needs to be cleared by your surgeon, with extreme care I have been able to do a rebuild on my raised pond, lifting railway sleepers!
Hi there, it has been a year since my left hip revision and 5 months since my right THR. I tried pushing on the weight bearing and of course got the hip abductors that felt like a pinched muscle, so it got swollen and painful. 4 days later, it still hurt and had to stop for a week. Now I am back at the gym, listening to my body, doing more stretches and less resistance training and slowly increasing resistance but also increasing repetitions. The most important thing is to be pain free and get better. Everyone progresses at different rates but we must be careful and listen to our bodies. THR is a major surgery and the deep tissue takes time to heal. To everyone in this forum, I wish a happy holiday and a wonderful 2018. Please be gentle to yourself. No one has to prove that they are better than any body else.
