So my doctor prescribed me with Sertraline 50mg about a month ago. It took me a few weeks to build up the courage to start it. I'm on my third pill now and I want to stop. I notified people at work that I was going through some issues and they've allowed me some flexibility while I deal with my anxiety/depression. Now that I have support at work, I don't feel the same urgency to be on meds.
My question is, because I've been on it for only three days, do I just stop taking it completely? Will I have any withdrawals? Or shall I take maybe 25g for a few days and then stop? I need guidance quickly. I don't want to take it tonight.
Hi, if your adamant you want to stop then taper down but do tell your GP, you should be ok to just stop as you've only been taking for a few days but to be on safe side do as you suggest.
Hope you will be ok.
Neil
I'd suggest just stopping immediately if you want to stop and have only taken 3 so far. Withdrawal shouldn't be an issue as your body is still becoming accustomed to the drug.
You should really discuss stopping with your GP first - if you call the practice they may be able to give you a telephone consultation if you explain the issue.
Hi Saima
I started the serttraline on the advice of consultant after having a stroke while on medicine for A-Fib . I always suffered panic attacks so they prescribed me this . I took the 50mg for 3 months bit had constant visits to the loo. It should be fine for you to stop as it's not on your system yet. Please , like other people say, see your Doctor
Best of Luck x
