I've gone back on mirtazapine and my doctor only prescribed me 15mg

Last time I was on mirtazapine I was on 30mg then 45mg went up to 75mg. I stopped taking them thinking I was better. And this past year has been one of the worst years. I've recently moved and got a new doctor. She's only put me on 15mg and I'm afraid they won't help. Can anyone give me some advice please

Mirtazapine is a very odd antidepressant as it can increase anxiety at higher doses.

I'm guessing as you have a new Dr they are being cautious and starting you on a lower dose.

If you don't feel any benefit after a while then I would suggest going back to your Dr.

Good luck

Hi rebekah:   I was on 45 mgs for depression, didn't like the way it made me feel.  Dropped to 30 mgs and then aternated between 30 & 15 (one night 30 next nite 15, etc.).  I recently tried to wean off and it seemed like all the symptoms I had prior to going onto the med years ago came roaring back.  So I'm sticking at 15 which helps me sleep and if the depression starts rearing its ugly head again, I'll up it to 30 mgs.  They have helped me and continue to do so after 30 years -- the only antidepressant that has and believe me I've tried almost all of them.  If the 15 mgs. is not making you feel better, tell doc and take two 15 at bedtime.  If that works, you can ask doc for script for 30 mgs and cut them (that's what I do).  Stick with it for a while and give it a change (bout 3 weeks or more) for the beneficial effects to kick in.  Always tell your doc how you are adjusting your meds.  Feel better.

Hiya, even tho you been on it before they have to start from low dose and slowly increase it over the time so you will avoid side effects x
