I've been to 3 GP's and they all tried to treat it as fungal. I used creams and took pills and nothing. I've seen a dermatologist and he said it was dermatitis. He prescribed a steroid cream with hydrocortisone 2%. This obviously did not work. I've seen an online doctor and chatted live about my issue. He saw the pictures and prescribed me diflucan for a yeast infection. That also did not help. I don't know what else to do.
The skin gets really dry, scaly and shiny. Under the scrotum where the testicle meets the thigh it gets really irritated. It doesn't itch, no blisters, no discharge or pain during urination. More of pinching, pins and needle feeling.
Has anyone dealt with something like this? I could really use some advice if so.
Okay what you have is an ongoing, quite severe skin irritation issue, these are best dealt with by a Dermatologist.
Here are some strong recommendations that I would make:
You need to fully understand that irritation on this level is caused by what your skin is in regular contact with, or is being applied to it on a regular basis.
This could simply be contact with your underwear and / or sports shorts if you tend to wear those instead of underwear.
- here the irritant could be as simple as what you clothes are washed in
- as an alternative you could try Liquid Soap Flakes that most supermarkets sell as their own brand
- any trial of something different MUST be for at least 3 to 5 months for it to be meaningful
- other major sources of irritation are everyday soaps and shower gel, and any other form of body wash such as hair shampoo that may drain to your groin AND genital area when you take a shower or bath
- to address this you must ensure you apply NO soap or shower gel directly to your genital or entire groin region
- when you take a shower use the soap / and or shower gel elsewhere on your body FIRST
- you should exclude application of ALL body cleansers from your entire anal / groin / genital region
- when you have washed everywhere else spend at least 2 to 3 minutes rinsing your anal, groin and genital area with the running shower water
- NEVER use HOT water on any part of your anal / groin / genital region, warm water is good enough
- drying yourself correctly is an essential element to get right
- you need a large freshly laundered towel that ONLY YOU USE
- if you have changed to using Liquid Soap Flakes ALL the towels you use MUST be washed with this, as well as your underwear and any sports shorts
- after a shower start by really carefully patting dry with the towel the area that currently has irritation your scrotum, and the underneath of the shaft of your penis and the perineum area between testicles and anus is very often forgotten about and could even harbour the main location of irritated skin
- once you have thoroughly dried this region of your body SO THAT NO TRACE of moisture remains you can attend to different areas of your body using either a different part of the same towel, or a different towel
- in terms of what is applied to your skin this again could be anything from skin cream or lotions, topical medications you are trying, or things you use for sex and / or masturbation - such as ANY form of lube
- the simple thing to aim for is that other than shower water or a towel absolutely nothing else should actually be applied to your skin.
.
This is not a comprehensive list but gives your insight to the most common causes and what you need to do about them.
What you can do is either contact a Dermatologist and get to see them as soon as you can, or you can put EVERYTHING in place that I have stated above as it is impossible simply to try one or two of them and see what happens as you may miss out one of the key elements and simply the irritation continues.
As I say, you need to have everything in place for about 4 to 5 months at least if you want to try these before seeing a Dermatologist
If you want to check anything with we simply reply within the Forum - as I do NOT do Messaging
.
NOTE: i had not initially noted that you have already seen a Dermatologist - you can either contact a different one, or update the one you have seen that the issues remains.
Whichever, I would strongly recommend that you put the changes in place that I have stated AND keep on making these your regular skin hygiene practices for the rest of your life!
So I started using moisturizers like cerave, euricin, cetaphil, vaseline, cortizone lotion for eczema etc. I stopped because where I work I move around a lot and I am on my feet all day. The inside of my thighs and the back of my scrotum would get really irritated though out the day.
I stopped putting anything on and now I am extremely dry down there. Even under the crease of my butt cheeks where my thighs meet get dry and irritated. My scrotum looks like dry, shiny, wrinkled plastic. I woke up with white dry dead skin on my scrotum.
What should i do ?
