Jaundice only?

Hi all! Forgive me if I sound paranoid... but I have a jaundice question. My husband (38) in the past few weeks has taken on a yellow tinge to his eyes. Not the entire eye, more the unexposed parts. When he looks to the sides the corners look a little cloudy, yellow and sometimes with a touch of bloodshot. So of course my first thought is jaundice. He’s been in AA for almost 2 years now (completely sober since Jan 25, 2017). His problems in the past were never alcohol all that much, but various drugs and just a very addictive lifestyle.

Anyway, his skin as far as I can tell is ok. Right now he has a tan so I keep thinking my mind is playing tricks on me. But his palms and underarms are normal color. Urine and stool colors normal ... no itching ... no pain.

My question is, can jaundice just be yellow eyes alone? If there’s a liver problem or blockage would more symptoms be popping up. I’m definitely trying to force him to the doctor next week once his schedule permits... he doesn’t see the yellow as much as I think I do. I’m a bit of a hypochondriac so he brushes me off sometimes with my “diagnoses”.....

Thanks for your help!!!

Also want to add, in February he had a ct urogram done to check for kidney stones. The report said liver looked normal ... though I don’t know how well a urogram can really see the liver????

The best advice i would give him is to see his doctor who will do some blood tests

Yellowing of the eyes with jaundice is usually pretty impressive and fairly evenly distributed over the whites of the eye.  Itching (skin) is also common with jaundice.

Routine blood labs (comprehensive metabolic panel) would show increased bilirubin.

Hope this is a false alarm!

Thank you! It’s hard to convince him to go since he feels fine and doesn’t think his eyes look like the jaundiced eyes on google, which I do agree with him on that. Sometimes his eyes look pretty normal but when I catch a glimpse of the corners, my anxiety starts up again. I find myself just staring at his eyes and skin like a crazy person. So, for my own sanity, I will do my best to convince him to go for a check up.
