Jaw Shifted Forward After Month of Dental Work

Hi,

During the past 5 weeks I’ve had 10 fillings and a crown. After the crown, we noticed I had an infection in the tooth. I went on antibiotics and a week later had a root canal. Two weeks later we noticed another infection and I had to get another root canal. During the past 5 weeks, I’ve had a lot of pain as its been difficult to fix my bite (we changed so much surface area with all the fillings). Additionally, I’ve had to alternate which side I’m eating on which has made my jaw sore. My dentist told me that your jaw can shift forwards or backwards during the recovery phase. Mine has shifted forwards.

At this point, my jaw is so tight that I can’t even pull it back to mimic a “normal bite”. When I eat, my front teeth keep hitting.

I’ve gone in for about 8 bite adjustments and my bite still feels off. I’m worried we’ve over corrected on my bite which is creating additional problems. This being said, it’s tough to tell since my jaw is so displaced. I’m not sure what to do.

I appreciate you taking the time to help me out!

I’m re-commenting to get this bumped up. Another question for you guys - Which profession would be best suited for this type of problem? A Dentist, Endodontist, Periodontist etc?

Thanks again!

hello,
I have had a similar case after my root canal and crown, my lower jaw was pushed inward in order to avoid over crowding and i started having spasm and then muscular cramps.
I spoke to my Dentist, he said nothing to worry about and prescribed augmentin 500 to clear any infection because i complained of purse from the crowned too and one other.

Its got worse now and i heard a cracking sound around my jaw when i open my mouth.
