Hiya Jo ![]()
Yep walk walk and oh more walking, I was told to Keep the exercises going, but also if possible walking was must. I’m at 4 weeks PO and are out 3 or 4 times a day with Hugo my black Labrador…![]()
Have you not been to see the physical therapist yet
I’m sure with the exercise and the walking, things will start to get back on track. . .
All the best for your continued recovery…

Yes, walk, walk and excercise. I am 3 weeks post op and my day is made up of walking and excercises. i feel really good with little pain, although i do have a lot of swelling.
Hope your recovery keeps going well.
Best wishes
Linda
I think the best advice is listen to your body.
We all recover at different rates so don’t compare yourself with how others are doing.
It’s important you don’t overdo it and only do what you can manage is what i was told, some days will be better than others and remember you will get there.
Good luck
David
Like everyone else is saying ,as much walking as possible plus keep doing both the bed exercises and the standing ones.
By 10 weeks i was doing about 2 miles a day walking and the exercises morning and evening. By 12 weeks i was back riding my horse.
Even now at nearly 2 years if i don’t walk enough i get twinges at the top of my leg and i start limping slightly. once i start walking the pain goes and i can really stride out again.
good luck
Without a doubt, move. Move about the house, yard and absolutely go for walks. Slap on the ear buds and put some tunes on or walk with others. The old school way with these things is to rest and take it super cautiously. The newer approach is to get back to being physical. Gets blood going, promotes healing. Do what your body can stand; then act accordingly. You’ll find you will get better and stronger each day. I’m on my 2nd THR in last 8 months. I was walking 2,3,4 and 5 kms after 2 weeks.
Still doing so and biking 10 -12 km at a time ( have not tackled hills, just flats)
But I built up to all this stuff by walking.
Good luck, now, get out there and walk.
Exercise, and walk … it all helps, but at the same time don’t overdo it.
You have to find a happy medium for YOU.
Definitely more walking and two rounds of exercises each day. I am 13 weeks post op and have made an excellent recovery. However, although I can walk, drive and exercise without any problems, I do find that too long standing makes my hip a bit sore. Listen to your body, get more physical and you’ll be fine.
