Just a kid, any advice ?

im new to this ... but i think its very neat. ive seen alot of things so far that i relate to and would like to share what i need some advice on. im 18 years old, but i dont really consider myself an adult. .. on march 14th i had an extreme panic attack that let me to punching holes in my wall because i felt so trapped, i was feeling tight around my arms and ankles and me breathing was hard. righr after that, for about a week, i fell into a depression. ever since then ive developed anxiety, having attacks a few times a week, and constant worries throughout my day. i guess i just dont feel normal, because im the only one in my family that has mental issues such as depression, anxiety, anger issues and an eating disorder. i always am so worried about my health. i question everything that happens with my body and cant stop searching google until i find reassurance that its nothing to worry about. sometimes i feel like i have a fever, sometimes my heart jumps or something and i keep a finger on it to make sure its good, i get muscle twitches and freak out, headaches drive me nuts and my breathing goes out of rhythm and its the end of the world. im just a kid and i dont know if its typical to be so paranoid all the time. i know i have anxiety but its still new to me. any advice would be great on how to become more easy on myself. thank you.

Best advice I can give you is change your diet, cut out all sugar, grains, dairy, and find a good Functional doctor. Seventy percent of serotonin is made in the gut.. True facts, most doctors are not trained about nutrition at all…

I am sorry you are not feeling well. Anxiety and depression are very hard to deal with. If you are an adult and have your own insurance then i would suggest you get a therapist and a psychiatrist. The therapist is to talk to and let your anger and troubles out and they will teach you coping mechanisms to deal with the anxiety. The psychiatrist is for medication if you happen to need medicine to control your anxiety and symptoms. But before any of that you need to talk to your own doctor and tell them whats going on, they may be able to give you a short term medicine until you see the psychiatrist, to help with the anxiety. Now this is a process and can take up to a month to get in to see a good therapist and a Psychiatrist, especially with lockdown due to pandemic going on. Right now therapists and psychiatrists are doing telephone sessions and video confrencing with their patients so if they are taking new patients right now i would be surprised, but your regular doctor should be able to help get you in sooner with the psychiatrist. Now heres the catch, if you are still on your parents insurance you are going to have to get them involved, whether its a matter of them just giving you the insurance information or insurance card and you going to the doctors and therapist and psychiatrist by yourself, or if they prefer going with you to all of the doctors, only you can know that. But its a process, count on 3-4 weeks before seeing a psychiatrist and therapist, then if the psychiatrist prescribing anti anxiety and depression medicines for you, they take 2 to 6 weeks to get into your system and start working. so its not going to be a fast fix. So you definitely need to start your journey to recovery with your own doctor first, and get something like Kolonopin to keep you calm until you can see the psychiatrist. So the sooner you start this, the sooner you will find relief.

Serotonin is produced both in the brain (central nervous system, brain stem) and the intestines. If you want fast relief, get the meds first get your anxiety under control and then concentrate on life style change with a new diet if you want. The new diet will take months to feel the effects of. I stand by my original reply.

i wouldn’t advice meds since you are 18. Maybe your depression is only one circumstance.
Try with diet such as Keto or low carb. Do exercises/walk/run/yoga/meditate.
Join clubs (e.g. yoga/training/gym/swimming/tennis).

I will for sure get on it. i really appreciate the time you put into helping.

i am an athlete and do lots of activities, but ive seen alot of people talking about diets, i will for sure get on one starting today. thank you so much.

i will do that. thank you so much.

i am sure his doctor GP will advise him the correct course of action. If he is severely depressed and has anxiety he should tell his doctor and go from there. His age has nothing to do with whether he needs meds or not. I started taking meds at 14 and my son started at 12. We are both still here and kicking.

And you can do all your Athletics and diet after you see your doctor and he recommends the correct course of action. The diet involves a life style change and it can take months before you feel better. Serotonin is made in the intestines and the brain stem. You can fix your serotonin levels quicker with medication than you can any miracle cure diet. You want to diet thats fine, just see what your doctor recommends for you first. I have tried the diet and it takes a long time to feel any effects and the diet is hard to keep to. I have tried meditation, Raki and accupuncture, and although they guve you a moment of peace, its not lasting and not practical if you are active and always on the go. I suspect you are thinking about getting a job or college, how is a strict diet and meditation going to work in a dorm room or at your job as these activities will surly give you anxiety at one time or another. Medication is the easiest and most practical way to live your life, its usually one or two pills daily before bed, thats not hard nor does it get in the way of anything you want to do in your day or life and its very discrete. Just see your GP and see what he recommends. I just dont want to see you fail because you diet and meditate instead of finding a quicker and easier method of finding relief. People do meditate successfully and do diet successfully but it takes time and dedication and most of all, you have to believe that its working. I, myself would rather have a fast relief so i can go about my life, my way, without having to rearrange my schedule or rearrange my diet.
