Just a Question ???

Hey all I'm going through something today that is very funny and I would like to know if anyone has had this problem.......................? I have been up since 3 am this morning to go to the bathroom. I have gone about 4 or 5 time. Not a lot a few times. Been in some lower pain. Not bend oven pain but uncomfortable. What the problem is that the last 3 time my urine has no color. It's clear. This has never happen to me and I have never heard of it. Any feed back would help. Have look on the internet...Thank you.......Ken

Increase or start taking a vitamin B complex and you will see it return to the proper color
With Regards

Were you drinking a lot of PLAIN water - say 2 litres?

Hey Alan

To be honest I have not drank anything today. Not thirsty. Had some water yesterday. I read something that it may have something to do with diabetes. Who knows. Just went a few minutes a go. Still clear

Thank you very much…Ken

I will have to look into that..

Thank you…Ken

I recently learned that dark colored urine means that it is more concentrated. I have now verified this numerous times using urine dipsticks that measure specific gravity along with many other parameters.

I am not a doctor, so take this for what it is worth. Having dark urine is not necessarily a good idea because it can mean that you are dehydrated. But I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that if you haven’t been drinking liquids and your urine remains lightly colored or colorless, then that might mean that your kidneys are not concentrating urine as they should. Again, take this for what it is worth (which may not be much).

I am able to e-mail my doctors and I find that very convenient. If you’re not doing that, you might check to see if you can. You could ask him questions and not always have to schedule office visits.

Hope things improve.

Hey Ken,

Have a couple of beers..ha..I think I will have one with you..

I do hope all is ok!

Tom

Hi Ken - May I suggest you get a BUN/Creatinine blood test soon. This simple test indicates how well your kidneys are filtering out waste products/toxins from your blood - especially urea which gives the pee its yellow color in part.
At the same time request that your electrolytes be checked (sodium/potassium).
If possible a urine analysis that also shows BUN/Creatinine being expelled in the pee is useful. And the specific gravity should measured too.
Good luck and take care of yourself my friend - Howard

I forgot to mention that you should also get a kidney ultrasound to check for hydronephrosis or other issues.

(Did anyone else notice that all our numbers have been erased?)

Thank you Buddy

Yes I do know about the dark urine. It was always more of a copper color.

I really have not drank anything to day but I am still going to the bathroom. Not in the mood but I guess I should drink a less a bottle of water and see what happens.

If it still is like this Tuesday I will e-mail my doctor and see what he tells me.

Thanks again…Ken

Has it only just started Ken?
In the UK we have full blood test for kidney function and urine test as part of our diabetes care every 6 months . Have you had these tests done recently Ken including the Creatine test that Howard mentions?
Maybe its just a one off which is nothing to worry about. Check the colour first thing in the morning as that is when it should be at its darkest .
keep us posted mate

Hey Tom

Have no beer at home right now. Maybe some wine or brandy???

Thanks…Ken

Hey Howard

I know that a few months ago when I saw my doctor I had blood work done and both my sodium and potassium were low. They always had to give me potassium in the hospital.

Yes I did notice that. I wonder what is going on???

Thanks Howard…Ken

Hello my friend

Yes I just notice it today. I will see what is going on in the morning. Have not had any of the other test for almost a year. I see my GP in February and he order blood work. I think them will be on it. I have not good the papers yet but he is the one that gives me my sugar pills

Thanks A lot…Ken

Ken - please get a blood bun/creatinine test asap. They can estimate what is called the glomeruler filtration rate which is really important. Blood toxicity can develop quickly. Take care.

Howard

I will…Thank you…Ken

If I drink a lot of water my pee is always clear. Never thought about it. I heard that your urine should be pretty clear if your staying well hydrated. Interesting…

Hello Jim

It is very odd that is why I asked the question. My urine has always been yellow or a copper color It all depended what I drank.

I had a couple of bottles yesterday but today I have not had anything to drink. Milk in a bowl of cereal but that is it today.

Will see Tuesday. If it stays the same I will get a hold of my Urologist…

Thanks Jim…Ken

Ken,

My urine turns very clear often at night towards the morning. I usually eat a lunch and nothing after that so by 3 AM I have been fasting for about 14 hours. I thought it was clear because there was no food to cause it to have a color. If you have fasted for a long time your urine is mostly excess liquid pulled from your bodily tissues so is clear.

You could start with a simple urinalysis by your doctor. That may tell what is going on, and be cost effective. If that doesn’t show anything a blood test may be the next step. Your doctor will probably have ideas about how to analyse it, and it may change on it’s own in a day or so.
