Hey y'all! I'm 28 found out I have herpes 2 last week. Because prior week before my bf of 4 years and I had oral sex. Moments later he got literally looked like he got a "cold sore" then it was 3 bumps on his chin. At the time we didn't know what the ■■■■ to think. He went to the dr. He hasn't shared his results yet nor said anything but now their gone. But now it's like since I found out my "women area" is feeling weird. Am I overacting or am I in the middle of An outbreak. I'm NEVER had one. So didn't know if I would start now. Just help I'm all over the place!
How did you find out? Were you seen and tested by a doctor? If tested, how? Or are you just guessing? Because if your partner has cold sores, it's unlikely you have gHSV2 but rather gHSV1, and I think you would know if you did. Also, if you have it orally already (and you might well do if he has it), you shouldn't even get it genitally, as you ought to be immune.
I went to get blood drawn after that. And it said >1.09 so the dr said it's positive smh.. the weird part he said negative for hs1.. it feels like I've had rough sex or used cheap tissue smh.. VERY SORE AND SWOLLEN.
And I've never had cold sores
Do you know your exact score? Because a low positive for HSV2 can be false where there is pre-existing HSV1, and the HerpeSelect test can miss some cases of HSV1. A high positive for HSV2 is likely to be true, with or without pre-existing HSV1. Were you also swabbed? That's the best test to do when symptoms are present. The pcr/dna swab is better than viral culture, but both are good.
