I am in my late 20s and i am scared to death. I have barely eaten, I burst out crying at work, and cant focus on my school work. Im devastated to say the least. I have been having suicidal thought as well...idk. The guy i have been with is long distance and i cant find the words or courage to tell him. I feel so afraid but then again he could be the one who gave it to me. So many thoughts running through my head.
Were you confirmed by swab test? Which type?

So...some advice......never ever go into long distance relationship.......you always need to be close to your partner in life. But moving on......where do you have hsv?
You know I'm also in a long distance relationship and I think I have hsv2 but I wasn't tested yet. I have outbreaks on my genital area but not too many. Just calm down. Take medications and eat healthy. Don't worry too much about everything. Even I am scared too but I try my best not to worry cause it won't help.
You should call and ask which type you have, as type matters. Genital Type 1 is not a major issue. Genital Type 2 is more problematic.
To find out you have any std in your life is really hard to take on. I hit a very hard bottom last night. It's something you'll learn to deal with as the time goes. We have it now and nothing we can do about I besides taking your medication, eating right, build your immune system, and try not to stress. All of these can cause outbreaks. I've had this for a little over a week now and have been dealing with it decently. Good luck and try to stay positive
As hard as it is to do, the next time you speak or meet up, just bite the bullet and bring up the topic. You can start off the conversation somewhat indirectly, e.g., you had some issues down below after the last time, been meaning to mention it but awkward, you got tested and you have gHSV-2, doctor suspects current bf, he should probably get tested, etc. Did you get the IgG test for herpes done as well? If so and you're still negative, then it's definitely from your bf.
I had type 2 and i just know they did a swab...im not exactly sure what type of testing...i hear swabbing is suppose to be very accurate. I am not as stressed today as i was over the weekend and i have just been praying super hard about this.
Yes, a positive swab is pretty conclusive, unfortunately. Nevertheless, I'm glad you're feeling a bit better now. Herpes is quite an emotional affliction, with many ups and downs. Very normal, especially at first. The important thing is to have more ups than downs!

I know and i thank you all for your support! Found out Thursday and started freaking out Friday night. Of course no support groups are available on the weekend so i felt so helpless...its not like you can just go and talk to any and every about your problems. I never got an actual outbreak...just one sore...hopeing thats the extent of it as i hear it can be extremely painful.
I had every symptom I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy but now it's about 85% healed and I feel more better and confident this is a very good place to get support and advice. It definitely helped me a ton thru the process
