Just got back from xrays and ultrasounds for knee & elbows

I'm 10mths post op had continual problems had an xray done today just to make sure everything is nice and tight which I'm sure it is and so does Dr.  However he thought along with my hip bursitis I may have had one on my outer knee .. thank goodness no bursitis just still alot of inflammation and swelling .. back to icing more regularly than I was again.  Had bilateral tennis elbow 13yrs ago and was off work for 15mths .. but since coming off narcotics my elbows are like they were 13yrs ago .. ultrasound showed that I have tears once again in them, both Dr and I are putting it down to the use of crutches and narcotics were masking the pain.  No more narcotics happy to be off them .. no another fight with the TAC (Transport Accident Commision in Australia) to get them to pay for help needed with my elbows!  I'm lucky I pay for nothing due to being run over by a truck but it's an uphill battle fighting with a government issurance company   Took them 6yrs to agree to my 2 knee replacements needed .. and so am looking forward to my next knee op as it's hindering exercise etc for my new knee.  Now keeping fingers x'd that my 2nd booster shot for my hip bursitis on Monday works will know in 2-3wks

Just love this forum .. wish I had of found it b4 my op and not just a mth ago but it's been great reading peoples stories and getting some good advice .. thanks all

Good luck! I am 6 months post op and still have swelling and stiffness. Don't know when they will go away. Do you still have the stiffness in your knee?

If I go to the shopping centre and do lots of walking I come home hardly able to move my knee due to stiffness .. however with winter I did stop icing and started using some heat instead but the heat never helped and now I've started icing again and turning the heating up full bore to help keep warm I've noticed some improvement.  It's a long road .. and each of our knees recovers differently.

Take care Jeanne the stiffness will eventually go

A Jeanne, I'm 5 months po... U r not alone!  I still have swelling, stiffness, pain ( but bearable) mostly later into the day. My bend is not the best, but my phisio tells me if I keep up with my exercises I will eventually meet my goal.  So like a good tkr soldier I forge on.... Please u do the same, best wishes, kathy p.

Just met someone today who said it took him 2 years to get rid of the stiffness and pain. Guess we may have a long way to go.

As they say every knee heals differently .. hoping I don't have to wait that long but I was advised anytime from 12-18mths so I guess for some they're ok earlier and others later .. will just play it by ear and hope for the best!

hi tijim and every one, i just have to add, i went to my last (i hope) pt/phisio discharge appt.  i cant believe it, i actually reached my goal of a bend of 110, i think my stretch is like a 2 or 1.  i'm just am so elated. i dont want to take anything away from anyone, i'm just letting you know that the reason i finally got to this point (which at many times i didnt think i would) was perseverance with the exercises.  i know you all will get over your hurdles.  i cried screamed yelped uod and ode so many times i cant count them all (and still do when i do my stretches).  Just wanted to give all of you some hope,  i know if i can do it, ya'll can too, keeping you all in my prayers, best... kathy p

Congrats Kathy .. with all the issues I've had I still have a ROM of 110 was 115 but am still happy with the 110 considering what I've been thru .. have to admit I never had an issue with bending first did I thing when I got home from hosp was get on my little pedal machine and was able to do full turns .. that alone blew me away   I can straighten no probs but find if my knee is tired (still suffering with inflammation/fluid) that it prefers the tiniest of support under it when lying down which surgeon said can be normal.

Take care and I'm so happy for you... Tracey

Hi Dear

Hi Donald did you have more to say?
