So I have had my CTD surgery today. It seems at some point that it did helped immediately. I have had a nap and when woke up I have felt my hand & have no tingling etc. I'm in pain but I guess it's to be expected just couple of hours after surgery. Though there is one thing which is worrying me. When I even try to move my little finger even a little bit it couses almost agonising pain within finger it self. When I try to straighten it feels like if some string was to short to straighten finger and only allowing to keep it bend. Is it normal after this surgery? Expecially that I haven't got any problems at all with my little finger before? And then can any one advise on after care or any kind of exercises & when to start them? As I haven't been told any thing at all. Thank u for reading.
You need to rest it for a couple of days dont try and do anything at all its hard but u need to give it time to settle down
Don't worry this is quite normal. Rest in sling so hand is above heart for 48hrs. Only move fingers gently to keep blood flowing to digits. Don't overdo it. You will have limited movement for about 4/5 days. The recovery must not be hurried or you will certainly have problems later. Fingers will be very stiff and painful but this will pass. Rest and painkillers a must if too much.
Any worries you should have been given a telephone number to call.
i had mine done friday no numbness either now and yes you're fingers will hurt my little finger really hurt and it feels tight but its getting miles better i can move it about now, still a bit stiff and where they operated is sore but its getting there hope this helps
Hi - yeah i had my surgery on my right hand last Wednesday and i must admit that i had trouble touching my thumb and small finger together for a few days, i just left it for a few days, when you reduce your bandage it will become easier. Just keep wiggleing your fingers, just whenever you remember. Wear your sling for the first few days after surgery, Either wear your sling in bed or rest your arm on a pillow but don't worry if your arm moves, keep it elevated until any swelling goes but preferably until your stitches come out, any worries, either ring hospital; - Physiotherapy dept or you own g.p
Thank u all for replys they calmer me down a lot. I bought sling today morning as I haven't been given any at hospital. It feels much less peinful today & resting it high in sling seems to help. I wriggle my fingers quite a lot but thats about all I do apart from resting. Last night I have slept with my hand resting high on the pillow. When woke up no unusual pain no tingling etc. So far I'm feel happy with my surgery results. I only hate how itchy my hand feel right now but I guess that's a sign of healing & due to how warm day it was today.
