just had 2 biopsy`s consultant thinks i have Vulval Intra-epithelial Neoplasia

for 4 years I have been suffering from "thrush" but nothing on swabs taken ever showed this to be the answer so after years of antibiotics and creams they now think this is the answer, hope so, the itching is terrible and is now as far as my anus I also have thickening which has completely changed the look of my vagina, its impossible to have intercourse with my very understanding husband for the last 2 1/2 yrs, most of the time I cant even wear knicks the discomfort is so bad, the thin skin now (from creams) makes me bleed when I pass water and wipe myself, has anyone else suffered with the same ?? xx

Hello Deb,  I understand your situation.  For over 10 years I have had bad vulvar itching, and was only given anit-fungal creams and cortizone / steriod creams.  I had no idea what this condition was.  Finally, after checking online, I believe I have VIN that is associated with an HPV infection that I was treated for over 10 years ago.   I am happy that I might be getting closer to knowing what I have but I am not very heartened by the treatment options.  Also, I guess it is too early to know whether or not it is cancerous.  I have to get a biopsy I believe, do the biopsies hurt?

I'm 48 years old. Popped along to the local sexual health clinic at the end of last year becuse I had a little growth/wart/skin tag just above my perineum which was bothering me. The growth was considered normal but the person examining me said that he noticed discolouration in the area so referred me for an examination. Went along and VERY kind Consultant and nurses had a look with a very powerful magnification lens and took a biopsy - just a nip of the tissue down there. Bit painful, but had a local anaesthetic so was OK. Biopsy result came back and I was called in. It was VIN2 stage, pre-cancerous.... to cut a long story short (sorry) I went back six months later and it had progressed to VIN3 I had my surgery a week ago at Epsom Hospital to remove the areas which are near the bottom of the inner lips of my vagina, next to the perineum. Very sore.
