I've just got home after Having MUA with NHS. I noticed I can raise my arm higher but been advised not to also to keep it rested.
I'm just worried that if i don't excersise my shoulder it will freeze up again. How long before i should start excersising my shoulder again and any good websites with descriptive diagrams on any excersises i should be doing at this stage as i wasn't shown any to do and if i were to book an appointment with my physiotherapist at my gp's centre i would have to wait anyhting up to a month. I'd Like to be going to swimming weekly with my children again and getting my normal life back, washing my hair properly day to day housework and gardening too before winter sets in will i have to wait long to do this

Keep exercising otherwise you will be back to square one. My physio gave me long bands made out of stuff washing gloves are made out of. I do a series of exercises using those and if I fail to do them after a week I soon know about it. My physio told me that swimming would be good for my shoulder.
Hi Dave. I agree with rolobolo. I had the MUA 18 months ago and had to exercise it from day one. I was given a pulley which I could hang on the back of a door. By pulling one end of the rope and holding the other in the bad hand I could gradually raise my arm above my head while supporting it at the same time. I also laid on the bed and rolled my lower arm outwards while keeping my upper arm nxt to my body. I also held a golf club in two hands whilst laying on the bed and use your good arm to push your bad arm away from you. You can also do the walking up the wall exercise. You will need to take painkillers for a few days though because all of this is quite taxing but I was told absolutely essential. This was my second frozen shoulder (previously on the opposite side) and the MUA was 100% successful. It probably took 4 or 5 months before I could put my arm up my back but all other movement came back very quickly. Water is good but maybe not actual swimming until the muscles are back in good order. It isn't all about movement in the joint. Over the time your shoulder has been out of action your muscles will have suffered and need to be strengthened again. Good luck
Stretchng only first week or two then excersise? Stretches and excersises should be available on line. Rubber hose is sold at hardware stores in the plumbing department, get a low mm, weak flexable one to start. Get your apointment with a PT asap so they can keep you moving and educate you further.
Congrats on your MUA! Best of luck!! Keep it moving safely. I don't think you should garden for a few more months. Hair is good, just go slow and careful on things.
I re-froze after three months possibly by taking on too much too soon. Important to keep stretching then excersising.
thankyou all so much taking onboard all information given i'm going to phone doctors tomorrow maybe they might get me in sooner with me just having the MUA.
You should be exercising all the time. I was sent hope after orthoscopic surgery in a machine that moved my arm all day long! I was in physical therapy and doing exercises 3 times a day 3 days after surgery. Something doesn't sound right. You will be prone to freeze up again easily ...
