i just got my results back and i have HSV1 and i had an outbreak on my vagina about a week ago. i am pretty young so my mom knows and she doesnt really know much and my doctor did not answer any of my questions. please please please respond if you know anything about hsv 1! im a freshman in college and i am so stressed and mad at my self.
is there an antiviral i can take everyday for hsv 1?
can i still have protected sex?

yes! i had to bend over when i used to restroom! i tried to avoid peeing because it hurt so bad when the pee would get on the sores 
first was the swab type specific? or a blood test? if this is genital hsv1 then it is not too bad. the first outbreak is the worst but hsv1 recurrence is less and sheds less as well. if it was a blood test you need to retest 3 months after the encounter to be definitive you didn’t contract hsv2.
