Just starting out

Hi,

I have just been prescribed 20mg Fluoxetine for depression and I have never used any antidepressants before. I have been very low for about a year now, and even though I have suffered from depression in the past I have always used therapy to get over it, but this time I haven't been able to overcome and start feeling better. I have no idea what to expect when taking these. I am only on day two now and feel ok, just very tired.

Can anyone give me some true insight into what I can expect?

Thanks xx

I am on day 13..I had panic attacks, depression, health anxiety...everything crushed on me. I started 20mg and from yesterday 40mg in the morning with breakfast.

I feel a little diference on better but it's too early to comment I suppose..

I had nausea...now is gone...sleeping problem I have...last night I slept only for two hours...completely appetite loss...I must force myself to eat ......negative thoughts are still here but there's a time when I feel calm ....I do not no if it's from fluoxetine but I do feel....

I hope this will help you...

Alex

Oh wow, sounds like you have had it really rough! Thanks for commenting with your experience, I really hope the increased dose suits you and you feel a difference soon!

Hi,

I'm on my 4th week now, and I feel so much more better than I did in week 1+2.

Like you I'm also on 20mg, the first two weeks were very much up and down and I didn't feel like I was improving at all. But 2 weeks on again I feel so much more myself again, and there's more ups than downs :-)

The side effects I had to start with were insomnia, lack of appetite, felt sick all the time and sometimes got the shakes.

Tiredness and lack of appetite is still here, I've lost over half a stone (now weigh less than 8 stone) so I'm going to ask the doctors for some help to put some back on!!

Good luck with your Fluoxetine journey, this site helped me the whole way so far :-) x

Hi,

Thanks for your reply! It's great to know you're having more good days than bad

It sounds like I have to push through the first few weeks to start to feel a difference xx
