I had a large staghorn kidney removed by surgery last week. I still have 6 more but the dr says he can get to those another way through outpatient surgery. I was in the hospital 3 1/2 days. Glad to be home!
Congratulations! What type of surgery was done?
They went in through my back and put in a tube that was attached to a urine bag on Wednesday. I was awake during that procedure. Numb but awake. On Thursday, the surgeon went trough that tube and crushed the stones and removed as much as he could. I was out for that surgery and for most of that day! I still have a stent at the moment.

make sure you take it easy and dont rush things as it will take its toll. Do you know what caused your stagehorn.
I found out i had a staghorn callus back in 2014 and stones keep growing back . I was advised to have my kidney removed due to the damage and pain caused over the years.
I decided not to have the procedure one because I spent so much time in and out of hospital and that I do not want to go on dialysis .
I have another appointment in the new year to see what the situation is now.

I had kidney stones removed by keyhole surgery a year ago.
I was out for that and had catheter and stent.
In hospital for a week.
Catheter in for a few days and stent in for a week.
I am now absolutely fine and consultant is not expecting me to have any more problems.
Hope you manage to get rid of the others.

i had an enlarged parathyroid removed about 4 years ago. The dr thinks that caused it since it was so big and had been there awhile. Thanks.
