Kinesio Tape Helping

I am now 5 days post (anterior) THR. I have been experiencing a lot of quad muscle weakness so I applied kinesio tape. (YouTube KT tape) This has given me additional support so I have more control. Don't know if this is an acceptable practice, but thought I'd pass it along. Trish

My physical therapist used it on me to move the lymphatic fluid around in my leg. I had it on for about 3 weeks, replaced every other therapy day. I had Anterior also.

Very interesting - I will investigate. This could be quite useful.

Thanks for the tip.

How are you faring otherwise?

I am envious - no one doing anterior thr here. I had a posterior thr in late Feb and get my 2nd hip in the weeks. I will be very happy to have it behind meπŸ˜„πŸ˜•

Best wishes for a vry smooth recovery.

hi trish,

that sounds great ...did you tape it yourself?

do you have physical therapy ? it might be important to have it checked if it is done correctly -- I am not sure why I am saying this ...

I go to PT on Tuesday. Will be sure to have therapist check my work. I used the KT (brand of tape) information for quad taping as this is my point of weakness. I have used tape for other situations with great success in the past so I thought why not try it for this? Thanks for your concern! Trish

My first hip was posterior (5 years ago) so this is quite an improvement for me. I have much more mobility and less restrictions but I am doing as doctor orders (he's pretty strict) as I want no complications. My last recovery was a full 3 months and my glutes were never the same. I hope the anterior approach becomes available to your area! Trish
