So I have both HSV 1 and 2 . In December i was diagnosed with HSV 2 went to get retested in August just to be sure because i dont have the slightest of symptoms (and I know most ppl dont) but I do have recurrent BV and I've read that BV led to false positives. So I went to get tested and the doctor said I have both 1 and 2. Now I'm confused because I've been super careful and disclosing my status to men I date. I've never kissed anyone with cold sores so I'm assuming I got it through giving head? Now that I have Hsv 1 I'm concerned with kissing. Can I pass it through making out ? I have no symptoms, I'm asymptomatic to both. Never had a cold sore never had an outbreak. I also disclose my status well before sex but do I have to disclose my status now before we even kiss?!
You can kiss with hvs1 as long as you dont have any active sores in it around your mouth. a lot of people get it as kids and dont even know it. I think I've had it most of my life and didn't know until I got diagnosed with hsv2. Also you may want to retest with the blood test that gives you levels. Ppl who have hsv1 can sometimes give false positives for hsv2 due to the antibodies. I honestly need to retest as well. As I'm also asymptomatic to hsv2. But I get a cold sore about once every 2 years.
