Had right hip replaced 7days a go no

now knee bruises and sore is this nor

Very normal they pull on leg to dislocate and relocate it. I was sore behind my knee. I watched an op on YouTube and understood why my leg was sore. Very brutal lol

I had a perfect hand print on my knee the next morning, when my surgeon arrived I said to him, you must have held on too tight, look at this, he put his hand over the bruise and said, I think you are right, we both laughed, his hand was a perfect fit.

I was informed some time prior to hip surgery by other members of the family who also had hip replacements that it was a very rough surgery, and thank god you are asleep, so had no illusions at all about what was due to happen, but a necessary evil, I could no longer walk, or sleep through the night, tooo much pain, joint of hip had drilled a hole in my pelvis, surgeon when he saw MRI of hip joint was horrified I had not been seen earlier, local GP had not helped with wishy washy letter, saying I had osteoarthritis, no mention of severity, so put on lowest level, or non urgent, of waiting list in public hospital, when in fact I should have been on highest level, surgeon told me in no uncertain terms to fire my GP before he kills you.

Thanks it is 8days now my leg is still bruised how long did you keep the stockings on as they are very tight

Once I was up and about, with only a nana nap in the afternoon, rather than spending 80% of time in bed, I gave up on the stockings.

They were just so uncomfortable, and would roll just below my knee causing them to cut off circulation, decided that was not a good idea.  Keep taking my blood thinners.  Still spent a lot of time sitting down, but keep at my exercises even when seated, and everytime I got up made the effort to do my leg swings and stretches.

Hi babs,

Some people have bruising top to bottom of the leg also, swelling so do not be worried if it swells up. I had no bruising but I did swell up which was worse in the evening after being on it most of the day. The swelling stopped completely after about 3 months.

Very normal, for one of my operations there was a hand-print shaped bruise on my leg!

That is interesting. I had no bruising at the top of my leg even though I am on steroids which are notorious for bruising. I had a spinal and no sedation, I wonder if my surgeon was more careful in that I could hear what was going on!!

Very normal as the doctor has to manipulate your leg during the surgery.
