Knee effusion after knee arthroscopy (meniscus tear)

So I had surgery on my knee about 2 years ago on my torn meniscus and ever since my muscles haven't been as strong and stable. Until recently, I started doing my knee exercises again and ended up getting recurring knee effusions (suprapatellar) and I've also been having momentary strange knee pains particularly at the back of the knee. I have tried strengthening my quads more but every time I squat, my knee cracks slightly. I was just wondering if anyone knew what the cause of this is and any recommended fixes? Thanks

That sounds like the start of arthritis unless it’s the tendons and ligaments around the knee that need strengthening. I think you should see your GP rather than just take advice from non medics to be honest. You need an x-ray and possible MRI to have a proper diagnosis.
