knee has jarred

I am 5 weeks post op and felt I was just turning a corner pain and started to ease and more mobilty that is until yesterday , has app at the PT dept I got out of  the car when my knee seem to lock a little causing real discomfort i told the physio who did'nt really say much was unable to do any excercises she just  told me to try them when it was better, however that has not happened its getting worse, problem on the inside of the knee and when I move into any position or try to be mobile the pain is so bad it seems to lock until I can slowly move , its causing me a lot of panic so much so I end up in floods of tears.

I am hoping the knee will go back into place on its own have been using ice more but no help has anyone got any ideas what I can do feel this has really knocked me back

Hi Karen

first of all, I'm not surprised you feel panicky and tearful - I would too!! It's a pity that the PT didn't take things more seriously - sounds like you've come away from the session with zilch reassurance However......looking at it another way, maybe her lack of concern is a good thing, as it maybe shows there's nothing serious wrong??

You can't be doing with speculation, though, can you? The knee is painful enough, without adding this problem. So I'd get to your doctor ASAP for a check up. I think you'd be justified.

Keep up with the icing, pain relief and elevation, in my limited experience (I'm at just over 4 weeks), they really do help.

all the best, keep us posted x

Karen,  so sorry to hear of your knee locking issue.  I agree with Nextoneplease, call the doctor and get in..ASAP.  Of course you are in a panicked state...we all would be.  Get to the doc and find out what is going on.

pam

Thank you both for your caring messages just rung surgery got app with Dr this evening hopefully he can help

Well done Karen. Chin up and good luck!

Karen, hope you got on well at drs and your knee goes back into place, I'm sure it is sore

Glad to hear your seeing your doc😻. No need for you to deal with anymore pain then what you have already dealt with.  Hoping for the best for you.  Healing Blessings blowing your way!

What a lovely message . Saw dr it seems i may have twisted my knee which has caused it to lock and more swelling got more pain meds have increased ice plus hot bath and more rest ,knee has eased the past the past few hours . Will try and see my consultant next week so he can check my knee.

Problem now is due to more swelling plus the bruising my scar is very tight . Never ever thought it would be this bad and there was me thinking i would be back at work by the end of may that certainly is not going to happen

Well at least u know now. Us Tkr people gotta stick together for support. Your healing may take a little longer than thought, however, at least your mind won't be spinning with all sorts of who knows what thoughts.  When u mentioned the knee twist, it just dawned on me, I fell the first day I came home, boy did I see stars 💥💥💥.  I have not thought to bring this up to my doc or pt. will next time I see them. May be the reason I'm healing slowly. G with all the Meds I've been on in the beginning, just didn't think to mention to new outpatient therapy. My inpatient therapist just shrugged it off?..  Anywho I'm rambling. Glad u know now n carry on! 🌞

karen, forgot to mention, I rub a small aresole can over my scar to break up the scar tissue n thigh.  seems to help loosen knee up 😇

When a Phys therapist/Physio person tells you something only rely on information that applies to exercise. From first hand experience I learned that they are not well schooled as to the technical aspects of joint replacements. I asked one what were the bumps on the inside of (What's left of...) my "kneecap" and she told me it was "bone spurs".  My P.A. said they were the ends of the hardware that hold my replacement together. In this instance I would get to your surgeon ASAP and get helpful information from the-horse's-mouth, sweetie.  Best Wishes.  Hoping for relief for you soon...
