I have knee pain on the inside of my left knee. My doctor said may be bursitis gave me a cortisone shot no relief. I cant walk without limping, stairs are a real killer. Had an x ray showed nothing its very sensitive to touch but only when bent. Wondering if anyone else has any advice?
Sounds as if you need an MRI to see what the problem is. an xray might show osteoarthritis, but not a lot more. . .As a temporary relief you could ty ice on it to try to reduce any inflammation . . .Saing it 'may' be bursitis is not really a lot of help is it! You could do with a definite diagnosis, and that needs a magnetic resonance and a specialist.
X rays show only bone damage. It takes an MRI to diagnose soft tissue issues. If physical therapy isn't prescribedci would suggest you put pressure them for the MRI so you can get to the bottom of it. Sometes it takes more than one injection but after that you can betvyour bottom dollar it won't go away on its own
I would ask to be referred to an orthopaedic consultant. When cortisone did not work for me, my GP referred me to an orthopaedic consultant and I had a knee replacement 3 years ago. For me it was definitely worth it.
Take care and hope this settles down for you.
