Knee pain

I'm 3 weeks out from a medial meniscus root repair and I'm suddenly feeling some sharp pain in the knee cap area. My recovery is non weight bearing for 6-8 weeks. I've religiously been performing my exercises and am able to do my leg lifts without my leg brace. My quad is strong and able to hold my leg up without bending. I've noticed this last week my knee cap area has some pain now. I see my ortho md in a week but was just wondering if anyone might have thoughts on why this may be happening. I certainly don't want to aggravate and go backwards. Thanks!

Hi Athlete, welcome for joining the forum.  I can't offer much advice to you but just to let you know that knee pain gives a lot of referred pain. The pain in my kneecap isn't related to the actual kneecap, so wait and see what your otho says and good luck!

Hi Cheryl,

Yeah I was thinking maybe it was just now that I'm lifting my leg without the brace and activating the quad more. The quad tendon that runs over the knee and front of shin is where I feel the pain. Haven't been able to activate this area for 3 weeks and makes sense it would hurt now that it's being activated again. Never thought of the refered pain, something to think about and definitely ask my ortho. Thanks!
