I worry I have acute quadricep tendonitis. The top of my patella and thigh on surgery side is very sore when I walk. Have I overdone it? Has anyone had this problem. Makes me worry that if I keep exercising I will do damage, I am not even sure that is what is wrong with it. Had a cortisone shot last week as their is arthritis in that knee now have to wait and see if shot works or I need a different injection. I figured this group would know something to help me out, thank you all for the inspiration you give daily to everyone.
Dear Jhb,
Have you had a hip replacement?
It's not clear from your message.
Ella
Yes I had total hip replacement on June 30th of this year.
Dear Jhb,
if I am in pain I try to rest, I don't exercise any more. But If the pain were continous, even after rest I would phone the consultant and ask what to do...If the cortison shot is not working, you probably need something different.
Best wishes and let us know how you are doing
Ella
Hi Jhb
had a hip replacement on the 13th July, my leg was so swollen right down my leg and passed my knee. I am 3 weeks and 4 days in and it is just starting to go down, but it gets really painful, I make sure I raise my leg and ice my knee and take the pain relief the hospital gave me. It can wake me in the night, but it is starting to get better, but I haven’t been out walking miles just small walks 3 times a day. I hope this helps and you start to feel better soon
I wish I could help you but I don't have any experience with tendinitis in that location. It sounds like you are under doctors care since you had the shot last week.
I basically did did not exercise AT ALL for about 3 1/2 weeks because of tendinitis of my psoas muscle. After that healed, and it did heal up, I was able to start exercising and very rapidly I was walking on my own with no aids. So don't worry about not exercising, if you do have tendinitis after it heals you can start then. It didn't hurt me at all to delay exercising.
Hi Jhb, we had our ops on the same day and I also have a very painful knee. I suspect that I have arthritis in more joints than I thought. My theory with the knee on my operated hip side I believe is resulting from the knee being in a slightly different place. Pre-op I was walking with that artritic lollop, my leg was longer than the other and the joint had collapsed towards my groin. Now that my hip is in the right place I think that my knee is complaining. The pain is intense sometimes and travels down to my ankle. I am hoping it will improve when my body finds its new normal. I am seeing my GP next week and will let you know
I too walked with a arhtritic, back and hip lollop. Beleive my real problem was not being able to do much of anything before surgery and lost much muscle strength. then when I started to exercise there was not a base of good muscle strenght so the quad went out and it was almost as if I would fall from the top of the knee pain. No lwer leg pain, some soreness in thigh but just msucle pain. Please let us know how you make out with your GP. thank you for your input.
Blessings to you.
Always take tenonitis seriously. If you continue to push the muscles/tendons you can end up with tendonosis. I did. And it was only getting a news hip and something I think the surgeon did during that surgery that ended the tendonsis of my IT Band. When you first injure the muscle/tendon you have to let it heal.
I was having a busy time in our business and said, "Oh I'll wait until this big rush perios is over" When I finally went into the doctor it was to late and my tendons deveolped scar tissue on them. If I run my fingers on my IT band I can literally feel the scar tissue.
Beracuse I had a physical therapist comin in 3 days a week I caught the tendonitis of my psoas muscle very early, only a day or two after it started hurting, my physical therapist diagnoed it. He put his hand on the psoas muscle and asked if that was it, it was and then I knew.
