Knee replacement pain

****One week out from knee replacement and I can’t believe the pain. I have o do the other one and now I am so scared/
Any one have a clue about stopping the pain?

What advice were you given for after care? You should elevate your leg and take pain medication. I suspect you may need more than Ibuprofen, but your doctor should be able to give you something stronger.Try ice packs as well to take away the inflammation. By 3 months most pain should have eased.

Hi Margene, First of all, I hope nobody is trying to convince you to do the OTHER knee until THIS ONE is totally healed and you are getting around and your pain is gone…you will need physio and need one stablish, non-surgical leg for support…some people decide to postpone/cancel their next surgery, while they are in pain & regret it later… some decide they don’t want to do get the other one right away or not at all …Wait and see how your recovery goes & decide then. I agree with Marina…if you’re having pain issues, let your Dr. know, the first few weeks can be painful & you will recover better if that is under control, take prescribed pain meds as needed, follow directions & taper/cut back as things improve, elevation and ice, ask your Dr (if you experience stiffness) at some point heat/ice alternating will help with that…If you get stronger meds, don’t go crazy DOING stuff you aren’t supposed to, NOTHING takes the place of time for healing…if by some weird chance the pain gets worse, your knee/leg gets more swollen, red, warm go back to your Dr…if pain is still there after 3mos(you should have had a follow up by then) call your Dr again…Good luck for a speedy recovery, Best Wishes:wedding::peace_symbol::four_leaf_clover::heart_decoration::rainbow::infinity::musical_notes::paw_prints:
