I have been refered to the knee replacement specialist and awaiting an appointment and wondering what I should expect at my first appointment. Will I be sent for a scan etc?
probably just an x ray - thats what I had -and it was enough to show the spur and worn cartilege
I had an X-ray about two years ago. My Gp has forwarned me that they may not offer to replace my knee as I have some health problems which could make the operation unsafe for me. I am in so much pain I also need to know what’s going on.
Had bilateral TKR 2 yrs ago. Take any recent x-rays. Dr. took a health history. I'm allergic to nickel so I received titanium implants. We have "joint camp" around here. They explain what is gonna happen, what arrangements you are gonna need, nursing home, physical theraphy. Don't watch the u tube video of knee transplant until AFTER it is done. Rehab is hard work & it is painful but when you turn the corner on it, it is life changing. My replacements gave me my life back.
