Hi everyone! I am a new member. Bil tkr 1 and 3 months ago. No work now for a year. Therapy going well but right knee or 3 month knee hurts more on inner aspect. I pray its not a problem. F/U on 6-18😊trying to not stress.
Too early for concern. You are a long way from being to a point of healed. Keep up the excercise, ice, elevation, plenty of rest and hydration. Slowly, very slowly you will feel like you are getting there. W hat surgeons and therapists don't tell you ahead of time is it's a brutal operation and it may take a year before all the pain is gone and you're moving as you had hoped when you jumped into this program. Be sure you remember the rest and hydration. A tired, dehydrated body cannot and will not heal as quickly as one that is cared for. Stay with this group. You'll get advice and encouragement from people that have been through the process.
ya oldfatguy1 is right its realy early days ,as my physio said to me when i got fed up with slow progress she told me its a marathon not a sprint !! its probably the hardest thing you will ever do having a tkr its hard to prepare anybody for it as we all have different stories so try and relax as much as you can its a slow slow road i know ive not had it easy its frustrating
Hi! jsut got back on my page today. thanks for the advice! I am now 7 mos on R knee and 5 mos on left knee. I stiil do therapy on my own , but my R knee is concerning. It has pain 6/10 and hurts like crazy when I stand after sitting. My L knee is doing well ( looks kinda funny/puffy). I am trying to stay possitive and patient. Not back to work yet because the longest I can stand and walk is 2 hours and then I need to sit. I am overweight (at least 75lbs) and I know that this is a no-no. I will have a f/u with md in a month. Take care oldfatguy
Hi Linda! Thanks for your reply. It has been slow but I think I am ok except my 7 mo knee hurts 6/10. My 5 mo knee feels better 2/10. Still doing therapy on my own now and I f/u in a month. I am still not back to work yet. I have a standing job. I can only stand for 2 hours tops and then i'll need sit a little. I also nee to loose 50 lbs asap Take care!
Weight loss is tough. It goes on so easy and goes away so slowly. I just quit watching the scales and stayed away from ice cream, beer and desserts as well as cut back on potion sizes plus upped my water intake. Slowly .....very slowly.......it drops then suddenly you just find yourself not wanting as much. Of e e 40 years ago I was a heavy smoker. One night I decided to quit cold Turkey and have never had one since. Eating on the I that hand is something I enjoyed and as I traveled a lot, had the expense account and time alone to eat what I want e e and when I wanted. You can really develope bad habits with that formula. Stay with the program. I am almost 4 months out since my last surgery. The leg is very weak and pain levels high especially after PT but I continue to see improvement. My Dr makes sure I still have an ample amt of pain meds. My therapist told me yesterday that I will be much longer than usual getting to my goals just because of all the dam a he done by multipl Esq surgeries. I'm not going to try and tell anyone its easy but domeday down line I'll get there....maybe 6mos or a year or longerbut someday
