Please,has anyone had to have knee revision surgery? I have to make a decision between living with my original TKR ( Dec '13) where scarring inside has left me in more pain than before the op and 90 degree bend only plus loads of painkillers to keep me working....or revision surgery which,by all accounts is very big step. Help!!!

I think it will be short term pain for long term gain. Tough setback but even if it takes six months to heal surely better than years of pain and or ultimately needing further surgery. Quality of life, sleep and mental health are all affected by pain. Hard but if it were me I would agree to the revision. It's structural suffering not like other diseases. We still have one leg two arms and a brain. So we can manage post op pain until it goes knowing that it will. Doing nothing for me would not be an option. You weigh up the pros and cons write them down and see not in number but by reading them which you prefer. Much depends on your current quality of life and pain management. Think clearly go somewhere calm and quiet and reflect. Seek advice and do what your gut instinct tells you. You could take some breathing space my motto is if in doubt do nothing. You and only you can decide.

I agree with Caroline. Doing nothing sounds like a miserable existence. It will be harder as revisions are, but if you do what you need to do physio etc. You should have a good outcome. Good luck..

I have had it. I had knee replace on dec 1 add was moving around all in knee with lots pain. So they did revision. It's the same to me as regular knee replce. The pain is about the same. The bend take a while to get there. And the extension to. So good luck.

If it's that bad do something fast. Don't let your self suffer. It's not fare to you. Do what's best for you. Your recovery and you depends on the amount of pain your in. And you can't have a successful recovery of your in agony.. Xxx best reguards...
