Good luck. Will be thinking of you on Tuesday Shirley!
Good luck Shirleyann keep positive and let us know how you are getting on
Hi Shirleyann,
I too, will be having the knee replaced in a couple of weeks and dreading it! However , I was lucky to speak with someone of my age who'd been operated on 4 weeks ago at the orthopaedic hospital where I'm going . She is 4 weeks ..no crutches or sticks ..said that the ice is pivotal ..told me to buy a kyro cuff. She's made a rapid recovery from a painful twisted arthritic knee! She also said physio after 6 weeks ,to be referred by your GP , is also very important!
Very best wishes !!x
Good luck to you, I wish you the best!
Good luck, and remember most of the people on this forum are here because they have had problems. . you may be one of the ones who sails through this with flying colours. fingers crossed for you!
Good luck for Tuesday Shirley 🍀
Nerves? What nerves? You go to sleep...you wake up. Simple. Trust in God, trust in your docs...most of all, trust in your own strength. See? Simple.
Good luck Shirley!! Will be thinking of you.
Good luck for the 21st Shirleyann, I hope it all goes well. The operation is the easy part, so enjoy it!
All the best,
Look forward to hearing how you get on.

Hi shirly Ann I had my TKR less than 3 weeks ago 2nd March and the surgery itself is nothing to be afraid of i had spinal injection and mild sedative I was so scared of being awake I was literally shaking before I went in to theatre but didn't know anything about it absolutely amazing. Every day gets easier I'm now only using 1 crutch and taking less pain killers it isn't easy and I know I've still got a long way to go but it's worth it after all the pain I've suffered over the last 3 years good luck you'll be fine x
Good luck Shirleyann, you will do great ! This is a great forum if you have any concerns. Let us know how you are doing.
Good luck Shireyann
remember why you are doing this its a tough road ahead
just a little reminder this weekend i have painted tiled glossed and put new tiles in the bathroom if I had done this before my tkr i would have been in agony for a week
but all is fine .
Don't be nervous you won't know a thing under anaesthetic Had mine under epidural and sedation and 2.5 house later was woken up all done and dusted
All the best
Hi Shirley Ann!
I don't know if you are a believer or not , but if you ARE, I want to let you know that I am sending prayers of strength and calm, patience, and JOY to you tonight! God is RIGHT THERE with you! Give Him your cares, and He will bring you wonderful feelings of peace.
The calm that I felt before each of my TKRs was HIM calming my fears. I spoke of this with my surgeon. He told me HE ALWAYS PRAYS before each surgery he does.
You will be fine. Let us know how things go for you. ❤️
I really hope everything went well for you Shirleyann and your recovery is a ggod one as well!

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow Chico ... good luck 🍀
Keep us posted to how your recovery is going
Saw the general surgeon today. Described (with actual pictures) how he starts at a rib, moves "stuff" out of the way and clears a path to my spine for the neurosurgeon. No idea who figured this technique out. Amazing. Neuro will remove the existing disk, put in the spacer, expand it and then backfills it with bone material from a rib. Then the GS does the close. Easy...right? A quick 90 minutes... However, he's been doing this op since 2005 and says it's an overnight stay, immediate pain relief and then zero rehab. Hope they're all correct...
Good luck Chico, hope after the surgery you are Pain Free! You deserve it!
Hope it went well Chico.
Wishing you a good recovery
