Knee swelling and bruising

Hi hippies,

I am 15 days post TLHR and I have still some swelling all round my left knee and a lot of bruising which is also causing reduced mobility and flexibility when doing my daily exercises.  Has anyone out there experienced or is experiencing similar knee pains and if so grateful for your advice on how I should deal with this please. Otherwise, ticking along slowly.

Cheers and regards to all.

The swelling can take months to go I am 20 weeks and still some swelling and numbness just rest when you can feet up and try not to do to much like I was told the other day by the docs at hospital because I had some nerve damage when they stitched me it can take over eight ten months to see a really good improvement time just don't rush x

Thank you. Sorry to hear your about the nerve damage. What are you doing other than rest to heal the damage ? I certainly won't be rushing.

Hi Kevin. What you are experiencing is perfectly normal & you are expecting too much too soon. I'm 6 weeks post op & get a lot of swelling around my knee especially after exercising. Have plenty of rest with your leg elevated. Don't try to do too much as its very early days yet. Give yourself time, you've had a major operation!

Thank you. Will certainly take your advice. Best wishes to you.

I had swelling round the knee, calf and ankle.  Lying down with feet higher than heart helped, also not sitting for too long and having a little walk about the house in between helped with the stiff and tight feeling and putting baby lotion on round my ankle and knee also helped and made the skin feel more elastic.  It does all disappear eventually, don't try to do too much too soon.

Thank you.
