Hi everyone after i stupidly lifted something heavy yesterday and my knee swelled like a balloon,i was wondering if i should continue to do my daily exercises today or go easy..I have been icing it off and on since yesterday and it has gone down somewhat overnight..its not painfull at all just the swelling i was worried about,think i might have set myself back a few days..im almost 5 weeks post tkr,and feeling very silly..x
Hi Lou. I would go easy on it today otherwise you will be worse tomorrow elevate and ice. Meds if needed and you'll only lose one or maybe two exercise days rather than four or five by causing damage x. I'm 10 week and iv missed days because of overdoing it snd it hasn't done me any harm. I also find a massage with oil
Really helps I do it with thumbs as hard as reasonably comfortable along scar and both sides of knee. It really does loosen it up and it has got rid of the lumpy scar tissue along scar x. Get yourself a good book or crossword and have a rest day xx
Putting ice on knee and taking your meds is enough. I was told not to lift anything over 10 pounds for the first 4 months. I have done the same thing not realizing the consequences. I was set back a few days with ice and meds. Now at 5 months tkr I have a 120 bend and need a little more stretching to get where I need to be. So don't worry about a few set backs. It's part of getting through it all. Keep doing your exercises, ice,meds. Good luck.
Thanks linda,i think thats what i will do,think i just scared myself yesterday after lifting sometimes because we feel so well and are doing good,we think we can do anything..not so as i found out...xx

Use the good leg to kick yourself in the butt as a reminder n it to do that again. A day of rest with icing a couple of anti inflammatory pills, elevate in 24 to 48 hrs you'll be o.k. You make still be a little swollen and sore but you'll be o.k. to excercise again
Thanks my friend,dont worry i gave myself a good slap lol...been doing my usuall exercises today,still a bit more swollen than normal but no pain .
