3 weeks after TKR and struggling with swelling, ice and raising leg not working
Hi,
The swelling in your knee can last months and is very normal this early in recovery. My knee kept swelling on and off up to six months post op. Just try to keep up your exercises as it is so important. Wishing you a speedy recovery
Hi Snappy
Very early days for you yet, so there will be swelling, stiffness and pain. The exercises will probably still feel difficult as well, but keep at it. Elevate and ice, too. All normal, I'm afraid.

Oh goodness Snappy, if youre only 3 weeks in, Im not surprised youre struggling, bless you.
I found the 3 week (or thereabouts) mark really tough - youll find along the way that youll reach certain points and their accompanying difficulties.
Re swelling and ice - Im 20 weeks out from TKR, and for the past week I have had to ice and elevate every evening, which I hadnt had to do for a while.
Be patient with getting your poor leg to work, its been through ever so much, and it takes a long time for all the muscles, nerves etc to reconnect. just keep plugging away with the exercises, it will all come right in the end, I promise you.
Take care and keep in touch - theres always someone lurking around here for a bit of a chat if you need it. xx
P.S - DONT FORGET TO KEEP HYDRATED!!
Hi guys thanks for all the positive replies,it's good to you round when you feel you aren't making progress, thanks again
