What is the best way of kneeling
No one has said anything to me about that, will be interested to learn
I don't know...I'll ask when I have a hospital appointment, in the middle of July.
I don't know either - I did try to kneel to wipe up eggs I dropped (Yuk) but was unsuccesfull - I am also worried about getting back up -

Hi marilyn
The only safe way I have been told to kneel down is to perform a single-legged kneel where you kneel on the knee of the operated side only. This means that the other hip has to bend whilst the operated hip stays extended. So you can't really put both knees down and remain in an upright position. But that may change after a length of time after your op. Other than this I don't know. But I hope it helps.
Thanks I spoke with a neighbour who is a practice nurse and she says it's too early yet to consider kneeling, I saw the surgeon today for my 6 week follow up and he has advised another 4 to 6 weeks before considering going back to work and also keep to the 90 degree rule for those weeks so in all I will of been off work nearly 3 months and in he will arrange appt for 3 months time and get my name down then for the other hip to be done he said the hip was same as the one they repaired bone on bone or advanced arthritis as he called it, hope you are getting on okay xx
Hi Marilyn and hippies
Kneeling. Well my physio (never got to chat to surgeon post op), said at 6 weeks tis fine to kneel on the op side knee...but stand on other leg side using other knee. I personally have a body that tells me to kneel on op side but also to rise from that side too!seems to work...happy to have both knees on ground.
It's crouching that is most difficult for me removing pesky dandelions.

I haven't tried crouching yet I will see how I get on with kneeling if you hear shouting HELP!!!! You will know I have got stuck lol, but to day when I saw the surgeon I did ask about bending he said okay as long as I put the leg out behind me
No problem marilyn. I know it maybe a bit early yet for you to try kneeling. I just wanted to give you the hope that you will be able to eventually once you are fit enough and answer the question. Oh you're going to be aer of the elite club . I am getting my second hip done second week of September so at least I know I will be done once the summer holidays are out the way and he is on holiday for two weeks in August and he wants to make sure everything goes better for me this time incase it goes wrong again. At lest I know he has been concerned about me so that is good to know.
Hope you are dg well and you get yours done soon.
I waited for 12 weeks before kneeling and now use a kneeler (like an up side down stool) which makes it easier to get up and down without putting strain on the hips.
I was thinking that I will use a kneeler in the house as you so much easier to get up and down and you can still stick to the 90 degree rule which I have got to stick to for another 4 weeks and then I can think about a phase return to work also early next year I will get the other hip done.
