Had arthrospy last August for torn meniscus, finally went back to work in November then in December same symptoms with other knee only this time more painful. Just had an MRI and waiting to see consultant again, limited movement unable to bend knee making mobility an absolute nightmare. Has anyone else had a similar experience with both knees, I'm so fed up, am 50 and feel 70 !! Any comments greatly appreciated.
welcome to the world of knee ops !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! . most arthrospy are a push forward to knee replacements im afraid .if i had my time over i would not have had one .because when they cut cartillage away it makes the bone on bone sooner .when we are very young lets say 20s or 30s then cartilage removal is not so big and works most times for a very long time ,but like everything else when the 50s becon its a different game i like you had torn meniscus in both knees pretty much around your age and i had both knees replaced at 55yrs so my advice would be and its only my own opinion !!see the consultant and way it up yours might not be so bad try physio but make sure its a good one ,also injections (steriod ) might be an option ,the first one lasts the longest after that you get less time of no pain ,some people get a year or more from the injection some alot less ,ive had the injections and they were very helpfull ,but after a few they lasted less and less the last one i had i didnt even get a day out of it and then i knew it was the end of the road for me knee replacements was the only answer .
what i also would say is try to improve your quads they are what keeps your knees stable . also get a second opinion if you can or even a third its so important as there is no going back if the knees are replaced .make sure surgeon is the best even if its only for a meniscus ,im a result of a messed up op and had to get one replaced again .i wouldnt want anyone to go through what ive been through .good luck and let us know how it goes fingers crossed for you
Thanks for that, I had a steroid injection in the first knee and to be honest didn't get any relief. I'm wondering whether a replacement is going to be the best option but am still waiting to see the consultant!! I'll keep you posted and as you say fingers crossed 😄😄
I probably don't have the qualifications to report her but my wife has had quite a few steroid (and two Syncvisc shots). Her experience has been good doctor = good results. Some doctors can't seem to find the 'sweet' zone all the time.
